I'm on the market for a new digital camera. Anyone have recommendations in the $400 range? I'm mostly concerned about image quality, optical zoom, and battery life. All the other little gadgets are optional.

Ok these pictures where taken about a month or two ago at Universal Studios in Hollywood.These first 2 pictures were taken with little to no zoom.
Note the arrows pointing to the Warner Bros. Studio in the background.

These next set of shots were taken from the Waterworld Action Stunt Show at Universal Studios, and really shows off the cameras potential for taking action shots as well as zoom shots.
All pictures were taken from the exact same seated location.

If I had to pick one thing I didn't like about this camera, it'd have to be the fact that it uses SmartMedia Cards, instead of Compaq Flash. And the main reason that bugs me is because I already had 3 128 Meg Flash sticks from previous cameras I've owned.
