I was just looking at mobos and I can't figure out something.  What's the difference between a RAID IDE Controller and an Ultima IDE Controller?

as far as i know Ultra just provides faster transfer rates, while RAID provides ability to mirror or to combine the drives into one, which allows faster transfer rates as well since unstead of writing everything to 1 drive u split it between however many u have. Raid with parity also provides a great method to restore information in case one of your drives fails
