I bet a 800MHz duron would still beat it in benchmarks :D

I once got my 1000 athlon up to a 1337 1700, but everytime I booted my machine I got all tense and panicy so I had to lower it for my healths sake.

damn, and i thought i was r337 when i got my P-III 550E up to 798Mhz with the stock HSF.

one of these days ill grow enough balls to get my 1Ghz thunderbird past 1072. :p

We used a copper bowl on top of the CPU and poured some LN2 into it. It took a while until the CPU temperature started to drop and when it was cold enough, we started the test.

Nitroos will maek yuor ComPutar Go FastAr!!!
I told yuo so! That si teh turth!!1

Okay, kan anyone tell me if nitrogen cooling is a durable solution, especially for an Athlon XP?

if you can make the environment to control it correctly, it's perfectly fine.
Posted by BlackFlag on Jan. 22 2002,21:52
how much does LN2 cost?  where the heck would you buy it?
Posted by Spydir on Jan. 22 2002,22:27
to the best of my understanding, it's pretty fucking expensive.  I'm not to sure where you could get it, but I know when my friend used it to OC his Celeron 300A to 2.3GHz (yes, that's right, 2.3GHz.  I saw it running.  My words exactly: "HOLY FUCKING SHIT".  video was all fucked up though.  it was running to cold...) he got it from the local college, but he went there so he just ganked it when he dropped something off for his roommate in some science department.

That's a nice overclock, Jimi.  Out of curiosity, was it one of the AYHJAR stepping chips?  AXIA's seldom get past 1400 no matter what you do with air cooling, but the AYHJAR's usually do pretty sweet.

Anyhow, you gotta love these guys that play with Liquid Nitro and computers.  Wish they had posted some benchmark results, but it doesn't really matter.  That will be the Dell special in about a year's time.  Can't wait to see how the Tbred does after the 0.13 micron shrink.

No it is an AXIA but I wasn't joking when I said I lowered it for my healths sake as i'd just sit in the BIOS and watch the temp clock up 2 degs C every second, with a huge ass fan and the side off my box, it wasn't really functional but it didn't crash.

Besides mum was getting pissed off because the sparks and fireballs flying off it kept singing the carpet.

For an AXIA, that's quite impressive.  If you really had sparks jumping everywhere… lol.  You’re a brave man.  ;)

Wee, fun.
Most I've ever done is OCed a 200mhz ppro to 233. If the damned motherboard weren't so limited, I could probably get it to 266. For cooling, I just took a case fan, and set it right on top of the HS :D

Which brings me to a question...

Was the pentium pro based on the same (i686) core as the pentium II/III ?

Just wondering, and being to lazy to look it up myself. :p

hrmm... dry ice anyone? Sure it's not as cold, but it's cheaper, easier to handle, and more readily availible and easier to store.
