ok so i've had my lovely 56k modem (SupraExpress 56i Pro V CC) for a while now. it used to cause my pc to lock up when people phoned through to my house when i left it plugged in but now the fuckers started to lockup my pc when i simply disconnect or even when i boot into windows its driving me nuts and i canna figure it out.A: no i cant afford cable
B: i've updated to the latest driver
C: i think it might be to do with my bios but i've disabled as many wake on events as can find in it
any ideas? its a kt7a mobo btw

I had this exact same modem and it used to lock my PC up ... I'm damn sure its incompatible with Win2k - it worked finw in 98 but hard rebooted 2k every damn time I wasnt looking. Bin the crap, get an external one...

shit man and it gives me some shit hot connection rates as well (for a 56k) cant really afford a new one at the moment 
guess i'll have to put up with it till i can. if it doesnt work in win2k i will flog it to some other sucker i'mtrying to get a copy to reformat to.

would you adam and eve it it was the fricking cable all this time! the one i got with the modem had something screwed up with it so i went back to my big standard phone cable and now everythings working perfectly! goddamn i pissed off at myself for not trying such an obvious thing earlier
