Well folks, all the places are set, all the hubs are lit. The time has come to start the party. 10 computers, 15 people is my record, lets see if I can't break it this year. Too bad none of ya live around here, I would have invited you. Here's the invitation: Dear Sirs, I invite you all to the grand spectacular "Secret Cow Level" LAN Party! This has actually been planned for some time, however I'm not sure how far our reach has gone, and an official invitation would be nice. This LAN party will defeat it all. The house will be pre-cleaned, and on the pre-day setup of the 26th I'll be helping setup the pre-initiation. Our closest friends may come the 26th early if they'd like. I, Donald Bittenbender, Network Administrator, won't be there till a little after dinner or shortly after my work shift, either way after 5 PM. Coming on the pre-day would be a nice first nightly LAN game. However, the official bash doesn't start till the plan date of the 27th, and isn't expected to end until whenever everyone goes home or Christmas break ends. However, you may leave when you wish. I've setup a website for this special event, <removed for security reasons> - If it isn't available when you visit it the first time, come back in a bit. I'm working on it! Unfortunatly we can't offer any downloads from the site due to lack of funding and bandwidth, however links to LAN machines which mirror the popular games will be in the site for your use when you arrive! It is recommended that you bring any supplies you can part with. In fact, PLEASE e-mail me back with what you can bring so I can take an inventory, so that I know if we all need to buy extra supplies. This time we plan on making this party work. Also PLEASE e-mail me if you are coming. I need to know, and any preferences for where you want your computer in the house. I'll actually have a schematic on the house on the website soon, so keep cheecking back. Everything on the website should be working by the 26th. Otherwise, we'll assign you a nice spot with room. First come first serve! But there's room for everyone, so don't worry about it!!!! We hope to beat our record this time! FEATURED GAMES: --------------- * Diablo 2 : Lords of Destruction! * Starsiege Tribes * Unreal Tournament * Half-Life, Counterstrike, Team Fortress, Deatmatch Classic If you have a game you feel can be added to the list, please contact me! We are planning on actually scheduling matches and have a dedicated machine worthy of serving! Of course, gameing can still be done at your own leisure. We have a broadband Verizon connection. At last system check, Verizon was performing at 200%, better then the performance I ever had on RoadRunner, so we will have enough bandwidth for everyone. Well, can't wait to see you there! Whee, life is good. Posted by ic0n0 on Dec. 26 2001,19:32

Largo, FLFor those who don't know that's the Tampa Bay area, on the western coast, a stones throw from Orlando. Posted by directhex on Dec. 26 2001,23:15
