My friend is having a problem with his system. Here's what he has to say:I'm having a problem getting my card to perform at its true potential. It should be kicking ass, but it isn't. I have the following. Creative GeForce 2 GTS Win 98 SE and Win 2000 I have tried almost everything and I get sucky scores in 3D Mark 2001. I used to get around 2500 but have recently got up to 3100 (using reference drivers). This still sucks! I must mention that this seems to be purely a Direct3D problem... OpenGL games like Quake3, etc. seem to be performing as you would expect. I get about 96 to 104 fps running 1024x768 with everything turned on in the timedemos. I'm at a real loss here... up until I took a look at 3D mark scores, I didn't even know there was something wrong... DirectX 8 problem? I've done all I could. Any help or mutual complaining will be greatly appreciated! Posted by SimplyModest on May 27 2001,15:39
make sure you have the most recent drivers for your M-board chipset installed.i dont recognize that board off the tope of my head, but if it has the VIA chipet, get the most recent 4in1 drivers. when i did this for my PC i jumped from 76 to 94 fps in quake 3. luck, and later. I would try an earlier version of DirectX then. You said you were using 8, right? I believe there is an uninstaller available for it.------------------ Posted by CatKnight on May 28 2001,11:13
dude there is nothing wrong with your scores. i have a geforce2 ultra and a 1.33 ghz atlon and i get 3500 in 3dmark2001 and about 90 fps average in quake 3. i'm using the 1080 driveres incidentally.

He's tried with every version of Via 4-in-1 that he can find. Also all versions of his GeForce drives as well.Could it have something to do with the 7ZXR mobo? |
