Hey howsit goin?

Just wonderin if anyone can help me, i got a problem with my geforce2 mx. My motherboard isn't giving the geforce2 enough voltage, the motherboard is giving it something like 3.1v and the geforce needs 3.3v. Is there anyway i can get around this (not buying any new computer parts)?

i believe there is a setting in your bios that lets you change your agp card voltage. don't confuse this with the cpu voltage though. someone else on here probably knows exactly which menu it's under.

heh.. fast reply
well my bios tells me the agp voltage, its in one of the menus, but i can't seem to find any setting that actually changes the voltage. I don't really want to have to go buy a new mobo just to use my geforce. Any programs that can alter the voltage settings? I've tried to find a flash for my bios but was unsuccessful.

well, i know there are some programs that will let you overclock your video card. maybe they will let you change the voltage as well.

Try changing the I/O valtage if you can in your BIOS. If you can't change it there, reflash the BIOS and then look again.
It's a good idea to reflash anyways.

Better yet, tell us what motherboard you have

yay if you got a kt7a-raid cos that the dogs bollox if you have and cant figure out how to do the voltage then shame . also see if your bios needs upgrading or check the homepage for any patches that might let you alter the voltage on your agp if you cant find it anywhere in the mobo manual.

thanx
my motherboard is apparantly a TMC one, < http://www.mycomp-tmc.com > , but i can't find the flash at all on their site. I've even emailed them to ask but they said they couldn't identify it. The model is MI6NEA, well thats what it says in the manual. And nope, i can't change any voltage settings in the bios.

It doesn't say anything about jumpers either?

nope, the manual doesn't seem to say anything about jumpers, besides the jumpers for bus speed, etc..

why buy the geforce2 mx when you could get the geforce2 gts? like me.

i just didn't have the money to buy a GTS! they're like 躔 here, versus like 趚 for an MX.
Radeons havn't dropped in price here, they're still shitloads; maybe i should just move to another country.

I'm not sure what to do - i got a celeron 500 (no flames plz) and if i was to get rid of this mobo and get a new one then that would cost me 赨+. I can't get my hands on a 2nd hand motherboard, and damn i have tried. I'm just wondering if i should just save my money buy say a Duron/Tbird and a motherboard for one of them? I just think buying a brand new celeron mobo might be a waste of money, what do you's think?

Posted by askheaves on Apr. 21 2001,22:15
I'd say pick up a nice ASUS CUSL2 board... They're well under 200 bucks (on the order of 贬?) and they have Onboard video, which isn't all that bad. You can put your Celery 500 in it and call it a day until you have more money. Besides, that board is customizeable as hell. Voltage settings, clock settings, etc.
Posted by BigKahuna on Apr. 21 2001,22:26
Heh sounds good. I'll see where i can pick one up, probably be more than 贬 here though. Can't really afford a new processor+motherboard atm.
Posted by aventari on Apr. 22 2001,00:32
Yeah the ASUS CUSL2 would be a good choice, but the fact that Kahuna already has a vid card, Id say definately go w/ the ASUS CUSL2-C. Instead of the 815E chipset, it has the 815EP, which is the same thing minus the superfluous onboard video. That lowers the price a bit from 129 ($US) to 109. A pretty good deal.

Sell your current mobo on ebay dude. "No Reserve, AS IS, the friend i got it from says it works, but cannot test -- do not have electricity"

HAHAHA nice one aventari. I don't think that I would get much for it, but still, it'll all go towards the new one. Any chance I could get a micro-atx version of that ASUS CUSL2-C? It is a bastard having such a small case, maybe I should just spend the money and buy a big case. BTW anyone seen the Big Kahuna case? heh... < http://www.overclockers.com.au/techstuff/a_kahuna2/ >

for the price, a gf2mx is the shit. Now that Radeons have dropped in price it's a different story though..

I got my mx like 6 months ago when it first came out for 90 bucks, and have been very very happy w/ it. Just make sure that you get a board with 128bit SDR memory as opposed to a board with 64bit DDR memory. Then overclock the memory as much as you can with the < coolbits registry hack > and you'll be doing great.

I'm running detonator 1101 drivers, and i didn't need to update the .dll files like tweaktown says to. YMMV

If you cant get the gf2 to work, i would return that POS mobo and get a descent one
