Who likes this idea? We can have the forum characters in the game. cr0bar and I will always be in a room with pipes, and we'll trade weed for hints or something.

Actually I don't have a lot of refined ideas. But what if we got detnetters together that were skilled with sounds, graphics, and programming? We could make one hell of a persistant world RPG. cr0bar could provide the humor, I'll provide the expert programming skills, and our two dedicated servers could provide the backend. Who's up for sound and graphics, and idea development?

lol. I'm actually serious.

I think PG made one, I don't know about white dragon 2, and another one.. feh.. I think there should be a detnet fighting game- that would be more fun, of course that requires real programming... not using RPGmaker. Or java. No I don't have anything against java.

Oh- you can try making a detnet modification for a first person shooter like Unreal or Deus Ex (DX editing is something I've learned except the coding of course, and DX uses the Unreal engine) or, if you prefer, (which I surely don't) Half-life- but I'm not sure about that, I heard the HL SDK extracted was like 600 megs or something.. that's probably bs though.

I'm up for the graphics.. I've got some experience with 3dsmax and photoshop... I'm sure there are others with similar skills that will help as well. (btw REAL rpg not rpgmaker rpg.. let's make something... good.)

Yeah no RPG Maker bs. I also think that Java is a bad idea -- for one, since IE 6 and Win XP no longer include the runtimes, well, we don't want our players to have to download the huge JRE when they could get just a neatly packed, fast compiled version?

First thing to determine is what you would do. I do really love the idea of a persistant state multiplayer world though.

I like this persistant-state multiplayer idea of Snark's - how about a massive Anarchy-style "story" that the uber gods/cr0bar can add to and change as they see fit?

Here's another one - compressed-time play. Basically, make a full day pass every hour or two. During the day you can do all the legal shit - then at night you could hit the clubs, sell drugs, get in brawls - all sorts of stuff.

I'll help with the plotline/idea development. Give me a couple nights with a few cases of alcohol and I'll have a year's worth of script.

Yah... I used to do Quake skins. We could just take pictures of our selves and... bah... never mind, that's not ambitious enough.

Something cool, yet something feasable.
How about a tomagochi type thing.
You have your cr0bar, you feed your little cr0bar, you spank your little cr0bar, etc...
And users can pit their cr0bars against each other.
I'm actualy working on a game like that, but bum themed (called FeedTheBum). The cool thing is that I use AIM for the interface, so its basicaly an AIMbot, but it talks to a mySQL database where all the player stats are stored.
Using AIM for the interface makes distrubution and updating easy, since there's nothing to dl, since _everyone_ has AIM.

That's an interesting idea (using AOL) - now too bad we couldn't somehow store the mySQL on there and totally make AOL our b1tch0rs ...

Anyhow, has anyone even considered this beyond the Idea stage? I know we'd all love to have it be a massive persistant-state online RPG, but that would require über-l33t skillz ... any realistic suggestions? whtdrgn / Dustman - anything going on your DetNet adventure game?

I know nothing whatsoever about making an RPG but if I can be any help with stuff like story/characters/etc... I'd gladly do that.

damien_s_lucifer picked up triple-dipped LSD
damien_s_lucifer 0wns j00

heh... triple dip should give you invulnerability + quad damage

Anyway, if we're doing an RPG, why not do it right? I'm talking a 3D f.p. shooter. Use a Quake 3 editor or something...

It's a bad idea.

Cr0bar and chase go in search of more bandwidth.
