I want to get a microphone/headset for my comp. What is recommendable? I don't want to spend too much money but I want good quality, and it would be practical if it allowed me to record singing/other music onto the comp, too. What kind of microphone/software do I need? How to install it? Etc... /me hates being a blonde lam0r Posted by incubus on Aug. 04 2001,11:17
Okies.I work with a headset 9 hours a day, so i know what I'm talking about A headset w/microphone is a good idea if for example you want to do netmeeting and stuff like that, or you use voice chat software and want headphones so you don't disturb anyone else in the house. Apart from that, the quality of a headset is nowhere near as good as seperate headsets and microphones. You wouldn;t need drivers for these, just a good quality sound card, and you if youre serious about good quality mic's, I suggest you visit an audio shop. As for good headphones there's already a topic on here, I'm sure Observer could find it at the drop of a hat. *drops his hat*

This kind of has to do with headphones/mic.. so I'll post it here instead of starting another topic. Anyone ever seen a extension cord for a headset? Every headset I've ever boughten is too short to use with my computer.. since the tower is on the floor and I'm pretty high up on my throne. I've thought about sblive-drive.. but that just seems like a waste of money. Then again.. it'd be even better if someone recommended some headphones with an actual LONG cord.

Radio Shack has 6' and 20' cords available. Just make sure that both ends are 1/8" stereo. A friend once just grabbed just any old 20' cord and didn't discover until later that it was only mono.------------------ Posted by miNus on Aug. 04 2001,23:39

if you are desperate it is physically possible to use headphones as a microphone if you're REALLY strapped for cash and have a pair of old crappy headphones lying about------------------ < Where's your self re-cocking-spect > Posted by Tattered on Aug. 06 2001,04:26

Alright, I got myself a headset. It is not as huge as Tattered's but it is good quality, and it was way cheaper (30 DM would be like... 15 bucks with tax included). Netmeeting works fine and I can record songs with it... Life can be beautiful. |
