which one is better? i bought an optical because i thought it was the best, didn't realize there was the explorer. now i think i wanna get an explorer and sell my optical. havn't decided yet. is it worth it?

the only difference as far as I can tell CK is that explorer has 5 buttons to the opticals 2 and scroll....

You're thinking of the Intellimouse w/ Intellieye. The Intellimouse Optical has the same number of buttons as the Explorer, but the buttons are on either side, making it suitable for lefties as well. The Explorer has the extra buttons as thumb buttons for righties. The shape of the Explorer also is a little larger and more ergonomic. On top of all that, the M$ warranty for the Optical is three years, while the warranty on the Explorer is a lifetime. ------------------ Posted by CatKnight on Jul. 08 2001,13:05
well i traded mice with this guy from r2k. the led on it is a little dim and the m$ logo is worn off, but otherwise i like it. the larger size is nice since i keep the sensitivity up high, and i think it feels smoother in general. also the mousewheel isn't as fux0red.

a dim LED? i'm jealous. I wish it was easy to open the damn things, I'd cut the front LED out... or put in a BLUE one.

i really dont see the point of wireless peripherals unless you really have a really really cluttered desk or you have a legit use for one (like a friend of mine who uses a wireless mouse and a 15" lcd screen in his car to play mp3's from his puter in the trunk...very spiffy!)

Wire's make my desk look lik shit considering i have lot's of stuff on it, a 19: monitor a logitech wingman 4 speakers a vcr a sub woffer and all kinds of stuff, the wireless desktop setup is usefull, never have to worry about being in UT and haing wire's screwing up my game. I also have a very large desk and my tower is about 4 feet away from my monitor and where i sit, so i wouldn't have enough wire and extentors are stupid.------------------ Posted by Sithiee on Jul. 09 2001,19:23
and playing catch with your mouse is also fun but seriously, its really nice to be able to take the mouse and keyboard and put them somewhere else if your trying to work on something. the main reason i got it in the first place was when i tried to make a quick movement in halflife(this was when i got my cordless ball mouse) with the mouse, half the time, the cord would yank back, and id have to go in search of whatever was holding down the cord, and it was a hassle. ------------------ quote: Posted by Sithiee on Jul. 09 2001,19:23

My MS explorer = win. I havn't had a problem with it (yet), and the five buttons are HSoaP.
