See ya in a couple of days. If you're scared, that means you've never done it before. After you've done it once, it's nice and quick. I'd say good luck, but you seem to already be in the process.

Win2K is a dream to install compared to Win95. I remember making boot disks, starting the install, then having no CDROM when it did it's first reboot. That sucked donkey balls. The 20 progs you have running (refer to that other forum where we were talking about startup crap and task manager) are either services or startup crap. Go to the Run key in the registry (something like HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run... or whatever) and delete the crap that your video card (no matter which card) likes to put there. Also, set the Task Manager colums up to show you the most relevant information to you, as per that other thread... god damn, i'm lazy. Good luck when you get to it. Does win2k have msconfig??
Posted by askheaves on Feb. 13 2001,23:17
quote: Nope, but it runs. I've never heard of msconfig before, but I had an old copy laying on a harddrive from a WinME installation. It runs, but it looked totally useless. It appears to be just a parser for the win.ini and system.ini files. Only looked for a short moment... more powerful tools available in Win2K. Posted by aventari on Feb. 14 2001,03:25
I use msconfig a lot on 9x boxes because of the quick and dirty 'Startup' tab. You can easily select the programs you want windows to start or not w/o any registry or .ini hacking. Its pretty useful ------------------ |
