Remove Program through the control panel usually works for everything...

However if you've already deleted the files...

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like . . . ow . . . ound . . . round . . . ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground!
I wonder if it will be friends with me?

And the rest, after a sudden wet thud, was silence.

miNus's guide to formatting!

  1. Copy all important files to another hard drive, network drive, or CD's.

  2. Create a bootable floppy disk (at command prompt: format a: /s) if you have Windows ME or below. If you have Windows 2000 or Windows XP, don't worry, the installation CD's are bootable.

  3. For Windows ME or below, boot up with your disk, and type: format c: /s
For Windows 2000 or Windows XP, just boot up with the installation CD and select the option to format the drive.

  4. Install operating system of your choice. (A wise idea right about now would be to switch over to 2K or XP if you haven't done so already!!!)

  5. Copy your saved files back over (make sure you don't copy PROGRAMS, that won't work, only FILES - you will have to reinstall any programs).

And... I'm spent.

Good luck!

Correction to previously listed item:

3. Install operating system of your choice. (A wise idea right about now would be to switch over to linux if you haven't done so already!!!)

My only suggestion is to stop it from starting when windows comes up. Check the major culprits: Startup folder, and the Run key in regedit.

Run regedit, HKey_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Run

Delete anything in that key that looks like it would start Bonzai Monkey Fuck or whatever it is. It's not gone, but at least it's not starting. Then again, if it's an IE plugin, you may be screwed.

Or you could try Start, Run, msconfig before you start registry diving

also, check out adaware from lavasoft (www.lavasoftusa.com or lavasoft.de - not sure which it is, it might be both.) This WONDERFUL freeware program removes pretty much all spyware. Its damned good. Try it. I had so much shit on my box before I used it. When I used it, it found shit I didn't even know was installed. Fuckin Kazaa did a lot of it.

Yeah that program does kick ass, unfortunately I couldn't remove anything installed by Kazaa without rendering it useless. Still good for everything else, though.
