If you're at home and your modem doesnt dial I can't tell you why. If your email wont send and you wont let me look at it I cant tell you what the problem is. If you have a virus and your dat file was last updated in april of 2000 you cant blame me for letting you get it. There are over 1000 people in this building, you have to wait your turn.

You installed vegas online casino and now your pc wont boot? Good, you got to the end of the list.

Thats right you can't have AOL IM, MSN Messenger, or Yahoo messenger. This is work, not fuck off and talk to your friends hut.

Thats right, you have to have admin rights to install software. No, you cannot have admin rights. Well if your manager feels that webshots, teecee the animated gorrilla and every other piece of shit shareware you install are mission critical, he can put in a ticket for them.

I feel your pain man, I work as a Computer technician at my college and a while back I got a call saying can you go down to room C18 and help them out as none of the machines would come on, I knew before i'd got there that the morons hadn't turned the master switch on. So I got there, took the necessary precautions and flicked it back on and left.

The next day I got a call, the same tutor different room, "yeah hi, it's the same as yesterday so I did the mains switch and they all powered on and just went off again." Grrrr don't do the master while all the computers are on (AT machines), big surge main box went... Ouch, it all went down hill from there when I tried to explain.

So I went back to my office screamed then calmly walked out again knife in hand and cut her bloody hands off, JOB DONE now you won't have any more problems. OK so that last part wasn't true but I thought it.

at work (Staples) we got new computer equipment for the copy center, it's all high speed digital copying that takes double the time to do than before because now we edit everything. the night we got most of the new equipment, I was showing one of the trainers how certain functions on the new equipment worked (i never saw this equipment before in my life).

what's wrong with me?

User: I just told you, THE SOFTWARE.
Me: We use a bunch of software, which one in peticular isnt working? Office? Extra? Is it your mail? Its gotta be your mail?
User: I don't know, just the software. It just wont work and I cant explain how. You're the tech your supposed to know how to fix it.
Me: Ill be right down, just let me get my < tools >.

all of this is why I'm quitting my job to become an Independent Developer. When you start having dreams about using an axe to fix someone's email, it's time to move on.

As God as my witness, I WILL NEVER HELP ANOTHER USER AGAIN!
