This year for my computer science project I have to do a tool that lets you easily convert media files into a format that can be read by the pocketPCs windows media player (for example, it doesn't seem to like MPEG-1, seems odd to me). I have noticed that there's an interface to activesynch that lets select a filter to run when a certain file type is transferred, so i'm gonna do it that way.

So basically I'm going to write an activesynch filter to convert files from .mpeg to .wmv

I was just wondering if any of the ipaq owning detnet crowd had any suggestions for my on this.

Thanks.

I had an iPaq during my stay at my last company. Never played with ActiveSync like that. All I can say is, good friggin luck.

I think there may be a proggie out there that plays mpegs... PocketTV, I believe.

What may be more interesting is something that lets you stream different movie formats to the iPaq over a wireless ethernet card Symbol has one that is a CompactFlash wireless card... not sure if they've released it yet, but they were the only ones so far.

You guessed what the other project I was offered was!I'll try and make some good progress on the activesync filter so that maybe i can include some more semi-related playing about in the project..
