Ummm... well I want to learn how to play CS. That is, I basically know how it works, but I need practice. I have it on my computer, and I could play over the internet, but I have no idea as to:

a) where/how to connect it to a server?
b) is there something like a beginner's server because I am really not playing well yet?
c) would anyone here want to play with me and teach me a bit?

Please don't laugh at me. Be glad that there is a chick at least trying to learn to play CS.

yeah.. you have instant messenger or something, i can contact you, and we'll play on my server, and ill teach you every thing.

and hopefully some good habits.

I will voleenteer my help too if you want. I'm on AIM alot and my e-mail is anztac@octlet.net I was trained by some of the best, but I'm sort of in a rut lately =( I still think I could help alot though, I've taught numerous people (I used to run a 60 member clan.) Anyways, I'm just another option here =)

I wanna join the clan ... i get cable at the end of the month so it may not matter that much that im in the uk lol ... bear in mind i suck at cs tho =]

The clan is open to all detnet members. Provided you have been a member of the forums for 6 months OR have 200 posts. One of the 2.

just don't cheat

that being said, i suck, but i was alot worse a few weeks ago, and i only play for about 45 min a day and none on weekends so you could do that or just play more and get better faster,
use your dead time wisely. learn the maps

have fun

play on chase's server, pretty much everyone who plays there sucks a lot.

well how many of u have had a joy of having a fast internet connection, but having computer that can only play TFC properly
when in CS i am fine till somebody shoots at me
at that point my computer starts doing some extensive work and everything freezes
after about 5 seconds solid of not being able to move game returns to the third person view (dead).
now this sucks
i love SC as much as i can play it, but this is just horrible
the only way i can get a kill is if sneak up on somebody, but if a bullet hits the wall anywhere around me, that's it. everything freezes till... well till i die

hehe i figured out why i was lagging so much recently. turned out that with my super l33t rig i was getting like 180 fps (my monitors refresh is only 85). at 180 the server tries to send me updates like mad and then i get a packet drop domino effect. i set fps_max to 35 (a little jerky but not too bad) and now my lag isn't too bad. my average ping is actually 160 which is incredible for a modem unless they changed the scale recently. anyway except for occasional droppoing out casued by my isp i have a decent fighting chance now.

I run with a Max FPS at 100, but I normally get a steady 72, never dropping below 71, and never hitting 73, according to the NetGraph thingy... My ping is normally about 30-40 w00t!

my home computer sux
400mhz is a bit slow for me, so i oc'ed my proc to 500mhz and it was shit loads better, until my processor burnt up (damnit!). am getting a 550mhz very soon though. so now i have to play stricitly at work and only after everyone is gone.

my ping sux. i have a t1 with no one on it and my ping is always over 100 but hardly ever worse than 130.

anyway i'm about to install win2k in a few min so i hope cs works good
