Heh I just did too. I moved from an Abit BH6 to a KG7. I had the mobo drivers for the BH6 installed and windows didnt like the KG7 hardware. It was quite nice about it. It took me to the side, complimented me on my game, what good hustle I had but BSOD. I know it was really what was best for the team.

It flatlined on the operating table...Dont worry.. We can rebuild it, we have the technology. 4 times faster with more ram than my first harddrive. (/me draws Lee Majors face on case)

/edit me fail inglish dats unposibul

Haha. I'm so much better off with just my hardware problems.

I think I've got it done now...

All devices found? Check.
With Drivers? Check.
Reinstalled necessary programs? Check.
Set up Internet Connection? I sure hope so.

/me sits waiting for a random file to be missing...

My system usually runs Windows 2000. A couple days ago I booted into Windows 98 for the first time in a month.

The first application I clicked on crashed... gee, that's a surprise

/me boots into XP...

I really would like to get XP, but I'm just not down w/ that whole 'Registration Code' thing...

Hmm.. XP i'm still undecided..

The new interface may be pretty but the novelty would wear off after about a week - then you'd need a new skin, and the thing about most of the skins for most skinnable apps is that they suck. I find it hard to find skins for things that I actually want to use.
The major feature that i'm interested in is the updates to the driver model : With win2k, change your vid card, network card, sound card, add a new disk, whatever, all auto-detected. Change the motherboard though and you'll get INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE bluescreen on bootup, needing a reinstall. Seems it can't cope with not finding it's boot disk controller. Apparently this is sorted in winXP and you can swap just about any piece of hardware with gay abandon, and it's this feature that's attracting me.

CAll them for what exactly...

"Mr. Gates? Yes, I got a new sound card. Enjoy."

On a side note...wtf ASCII? I just left SA, where do you live (If you don't mind telling the world)?

Well, my family just moved to Omaha, but we used to live in Mission Ridge, in between Bitters & Blanco / Blanco & 1604. I'm in my second year at Trinity University here.

once again i point out that you do not need an activation key with every version of XP.

and again it should be pointed out that you have 9 days after a major hardware change to call them. it will work for 9 days and then it'll bitch at you and won't let you boot up.

That makes everything better! I'm going to go out and buy Windows XP now because now I know MS is a nice company, and will allow you to use your computer for OVER A WEEK after installing your OWN new hardware on your OWN computer which you OWN.
