I need a good fortran compiler for windows, so I don't have to go to class anymore. I had one from imagine or something, but for some reason my programs wouldn't compile. It was kind of odd, like it wanted everything to be in lower case and there were some inconsistancies with syntax compared to my textbook and the linux compiler I use in class (xlf90). So...whatcha got?

trying to use fortran is like trying to insert pineapples in your ass... it just aint right.

are you using fortran 77 or the updated 99 one. they're both shit its just the updated one is kinda easier to use.

Fortran will never die... because whatever language the Fortran nuts are using, they'll call it Fortran.

I had a professor in college... Dr. Hue Tran... not related to Fortran. (he was full of jokes like that)

a) I have to take fortran, it's a required class. A very easy one at that.

Just curious: How the fucking hell is a fortran class required? What major is that for? History of CS? How Not To Design A Programming Language 101?

(really though, I'm curious )

nuclear engineering. they figure a lot of the stuff engineers and physicists work on will be a continuation of stuff being researched for the past 30 years, back then when they used fortran.

actually, I had a choice between intro to c++ and intro to fortran/matlab. I chose fortran because I didn't feel like having to walk to the forum (building ass long away) twice a week at 7:30 am.

actually thats kinda a moot point since I don't go to class anyway. oh well

if the building's an ass length away (as preceived by "building ass long away"), then it's only about 1-1.5 feet away (unless you're a little "wider" then most people)...

Seriously though, I'd rather take the c++ thing the fortran, even if it was a good mile walk away. That's why you buy this new fangled invention they call a "bicycle". You see, it's got these insanely top secret government technology called "wheels", and they rotate, and there's this super cool thing called "metal" on it, so when it's all together you get a cheap, nice form of transportation...

But I guess it's to late for that now, right?

it fucking pisses me off how they just went here you go now learn or you fail the IT course... surprise surprise i failed the IT course. and that excuse about using it in engineering is bullshit the truth is that all the old lecturers only know how to use fortran and cant be assed to learn a better coding language.
