Ok... I was running morpheus fine for god knows how long, and then upgraded to 1.3 when that came out, and then did some patch thing it told me to install. Now everytime I run it it crashes while it's connecting, and if I uninstall then reinstall it just does the same thing. Nobody happens to know exactly every little thing I need to delete to completely remove it after an uninstall (that means registry stuff), do they? Or more importantly, a easy way to fix this little problem?

In the course of being pissed about this whole crashing thing, I've tried a few other napster wannabe's, and all of them either suck ass, I can't use, or have some other problem. I can't connect to gnutella sites, audio galaxy crashes my system somehow, kazaa sucks ass (no spyware for me, thank you), and opennap is to limited... any other ideas, peoples?

wtf? You have a Compaq or something? heh
Acually, I had a similar problem with IMesh on my old PC. Never did get it to work right.

You may want to make sure that ALL of the morpheus files are deleted, then **DISCLAIMER** registry dive to make sure all the keys are gone (HKLM\Software\Morpheus or whatever the company name is. That's where most of them should be).

Good luck.

< Morpeus > is ok for music, but if you want mad philez ;o) and ISOs and shiznit, you gotta go rape the < Donkey >.

... where the hell did you get "compaq" from? I build my own systems, thank you.

I tried imesh, and I can connect but I can't download a damned thing. It just sits there with everything queued.

There's actually a few spots in the registry where morpheus pops up. Infact, about 20 some spots. Most of them overlap with other programs, and I'm not in the need to fuck up my system any more then it already just because I can't get on morpheus.

and incubus... that sounds interesting, but worded like that, woo, I dunno man. Last time I raped the don... oh wait a sec...

Didn't mean to offend w/the Compaq comment. I had to support about 200 of them at my last job and they're pieces of shit.

And what's this about messing with the registry supposedly messing up your system? That doesn't happen. Watch....HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion...Hit Delete Key...Enter to Confir...

iMesh and Morpheus aren't the best file sharing clients out there. I have tried almost all of them, and I think < BearShare > is the best. It's a gnutella client and it lets you tweak a lot of things without the problems of earlier gnutella clients. You can search for all file types and it has fast downloads.

Ride the < donkey >! Beat the < Donkey >! Harness the power of 2,000 electronic < Donkeys >!

It's not a file-sharing program, it's a religion.

Hmm.. I'm switching to donkey.. Morpheus and kazaa have the exact same client btw.. it's kind of strange.. they also come with a slew of spyware, at least i noticed mine doing it to me. One day all of the sudden I'd get banner popping up, right on system start up... and also at random events, even when internet explorer wasn't open. Also in WinXP it seems its impossible to stop Morpheus from booting at start since it puts it self back into boot sequence everytime you start up. In my msconfig there are 12 morpheus's with no check beside them and tonight there will be 13. :P

Bearshare and Limewire are pretty much the same thing, so it doesn't really matter...

Except Bearshare has spyware, and Limewire was written in Java so it works on anything with a VM.

i use WinMX and hotline connect most of the time. once u get past the queue winmx can be the greatest thing for full movies and some songs. morpheus is definately best for mp3s and music videos. hotline i use for whatever i can't find on the other two, mostly software and some movies. hotline takes a lot of getting used to and it can be kind of frustrating util you find good search engines and get a good list of bookmarks.

I got morpheus working again. I got a really old version installed and upgraded it, and it's working fine now. I'm trying this donkey thing, it seems alright but it takes awhile to get through the queueing, and it took it almost half an hour to get through my mp3 list. Yeah, I got well over 1000 mp3's, but half an hour just to get through 500 mp3's to make a list?

Donkey thing? What is that like a donkey punch? Ew. You're ASKING for one?

Heh. JK, I use WinMX, it kind of sucks though. I used to use Kazaa for all my (pr0n and non pr0n) needs, but I could never find anything. I went to download the new Tool video, and it came up with a bunch of porn

Posted by GeZzEd on Oct. 07 2001,20:05
Don't tell me the Tool song you were looking for was Prison Sex.

I've also been fiddiling with heaps of file sharing programs, the one I most recommend for all you pr0n lovers out there is called < Direct Connect > because this one has a series of servers which host the proggy, you connect to the best server based on:
1. How much data your sharing
2. How many slots for uploading you have open
This one does take awhile to get used to, but it's the best pr0n tool I've found.

Posted by Spydir on Oct. 07 2001,20:58
... why can't people just say "porn"?
