Don't buy either of them yet.

Honestly I haven't researched the difference in these TVs, nor do I care. For one thing, they aren't widescreen, so YUCK!

But I do know that Sony will be introducing this july the 32XBR450 into thier WEGA line. The main difference between this model and older models is that it will include built in 3:2 Pulldown capability in addition to the internal line doubler.

Here is a brief of what 3:2 pull down is.

First let's look at an Interlaced Image:
Odd lines are drawn and then even lines. Normal TV, Normal DVD Players, and VCRs output an interlaced image. This is what one looks like moving.
To see this effect stick your nose up to your TV and watch the edge of a stationary object until it moves. You can't miss it. The smaller the tv, or the further you sit from the TV, the less you'll notice it.
Here is an original movie clip being pulldown interlaced.

Progessive Scan draws from top to bottom.
Progressive sources include HDTV, Progressive Scan DVD players (like the XBox).

Here is 3:2 pulldown. This is what the new line of sony's will do for your interlaced sources.

So for example, this method will make sources like Cable, DirecTV, and Interlaced DVD images LOOK 1,000 times better. Go price an Interlaced DVD player and then a Progressive One, and you'll see right off why this feature is a must have!!!

Me, my TV doesn't even have this feature. I had to buy an external line doubler called the IScan Pro. It does everything I just described above, but cost me 迀 bucks!!!!

So take my advice... WAIT!!!!

July. And the cost should be the same as the XBR400, which will in turn drop in price.

I still think you'd be better off going with a < 40 Toshiba > (ũ,668.95), < 50 Toshiba > (Ū,273.95)or a < 46 Mitsubishi > (ũ,869.95)

If you are going to spend the cash for an HDTV set, you should at least make it a widescreen.

those are too big. this needs to fit in my room, in a spot that wont very easily fit anything much larger than 32. And by the same as the 400, do you mean msrp, or that i can probably find it at the price crazy eddie has?

on another note. why is eddie so crazy, and why does he have such CRAZY prices?!?

Because Eddie is not an authorized dealer, and buying from Eddie voids your warrenty.

Quote from Eddie's policy.
Each product is fully guaranteed by the manufacturer. The complete warranty is included with the product. The manufacturers' warranty covers repair or replacement of defective parts, subject to the conditions set forth.

Now my manufacturers warrenty in my Mitsubishi says that my warrenty is valid when purchased from an Authorized Dealer. So basically Eddie is playing the legal FUCK YOU GAME!

But WAIT! There's good news! Sears now, or the last time I checked, honored Internet Prices! Not sure how long that policy will last... But I've taken Crazy Eddie prices to Sears and got shit shipping free at CRAZY prices!

Go with the 40" Toshiba. You can fit it! We are talking LESS than 40" wide... And it's much cooler than a Sony 4:3 pan and scan WEGA!!!
