In CA it's still legal if you're at most 3 years appart. Otherwise... I woundn't worry about it too much unless her parents are charge-pressing freaks.

i beleive the correct term is statutory rape, and yes it doesn't matter if she was willing or not
legal system assumes that teens until the age of 16 or 18 in some places are not able to make their own choices and therefore can't really agree to have sex
so either way it is a statutory rape
but as long as there is no sex it should be just fine

First, what state are you in? That would help immensely.

19 and 16 shouldn't be a problem legally. If it's within a certain number of years, it's not illegal. I had a girlfriend when I was 17, and she was 17, and she turned 18 first... by 3 1/2 months. It was not illegal during that short period of time.

I cannot date a 16 year old now. Thank goodness I'm starting to find them less and less attractive now. I guess I'm not the pedophile I feared I could become. I don't think I could spend more than 5 minutes in the same room as a 16 year old. My eardrums would explode.

The question I have is will you turn 20 before she turns 17? Then, you're starting to push things a bit.

weird i am the same way heaves. exactly when i turned 18 i started finding girls < 17 extremely annoying and immature, maybe cute, but not at all attractive. i only find girls my own age or slightly older really attractive.

18 is the federal legal age of consent. A big joke around here (Hawaii) is that STATE law says it's 14. But if charges were pressed it could be brought before federal court, and therefore the 18 yr old law takes effect. As is my understanding.

First as was said - it depends on the state- each state has their own set of laws on statutory rape.


For example legal age of consent in New York state is 17. However legal age of majority (i.e. to sign contracts, negotiable instruments etc) is 18. There is also a law about how much age difference there can be between a girl and a guy regardless of consenting age...I just cant seem to locate the statute...

Personally I've NEVER liked 0 to 19 year-olds. 20 to 30 has always been my area... dunno why.

Anywaze I think the LAW should be 16 is the age of concent or if you're within 3 years. And (while it shouldn't be a law) 14 should be the youngest starting age.

The thing that REALLY sucks is how if two 15 year olds have sex, the guy can be charged with rape, but the girl can't. And those drinking laws:
man sober + woman drunk = man raped her
man drunk + woman sober = man raped her
man drunk + woman drunk = man raped her

oh yeah. If you want to get away with that "standard" whatever thing later on in life, start acting crazy on a regular basis, starting now. Trust me. I figured it out in 6th grade. As long as people think I'm crazy, in court I can plead insanity and few people will contradict that. basicly the story is we work together and kinda play around with sexual flirting type shit and the other night she asks me "when are we going to go on a date" i know that doesnt mean "come over to my house and fuck me" but point is if were going out im gonna wanna get my freak on, she is gonna turn 17 in 1 month but shes still in HS and im gonna be 3rd year college, i cant really tell if its a good idea to try and get with her, basicly im just lonley and shes so damn cute and avalable
