It's called a trip to the Ob-Gyn. You don't have to be a chick to know that.

Maybe it's just from listening to a lot of Loveline, but

lots of pain in female genitals (esp. burning) == gyno trip

You already said you know that it's cystitis. Why not ask the doc?

Now, the guys have already told you, I am a girl and I'm telling you again: go see a doctor. It's no use dealing with the pain or trying to diagnose/cure it by yourselves, and before running risks of any kind, seeing a gyno is easy and will help best.
Good luck!

we know it's cyctitis, we know it needs pennicillin-based antibiotics such as amoxcillin, and that you should try and drink 5 pints a day (with some alkaline agent such as sodium bicarbonate every 6 hours). what i need is prevention, not cure...

Okay, you don't need the gyno for a diagnose. You still need him for the cure! A penicilline stuff is nothing easy to deal with, and you need a prescription to get it. Then, the doctor will know exactly which stuff will treat her best, and also how to dose it and all - in case you don't get "professional advice" you really run far too high a risk taking penicilline on your own. It may cause allergies and other stuff...
