Um ...the sound the Wopper was making in War Games. ...Would you like to play a game?

I dunno ...sounds like feedback of some sort.

Kind of sounds like a guitar or bass? Could be the humming of some huge power source?

This side of someone blowing across a glass bottle, the first 2 I have no idea about. The 3rd however, sounds like the exaust from a muscle car (I now have drifting images of Chargers and Baracudas running through my head).

the 1st 2 tend to remind me of a hum of some unrememberable herz value. i am somewhat stumped on the last.

upon further consideration, judging on past ck posts, it's probably a practical application of some mathematical function. perhaps a sin wave of some sort.

Heh, not sure what it is besides annoying. The first one crashed IE and locked up my system, WHILE STILL PLAYING THE SOUND FILE! So, in light of that occurrence, I quit.

pretty close

Is it a power plant. You do nuclear shit don't you? So maybe a nuclear power plant of something. The last one sounds like a blast furnace of some type.

you're getting warmer...it is nuclear

however, you are around 10 million kelvin off

Posted by Der_Teufel on Nov. 08 2001,00:36
Is it a nuclear fusion reactor? The only other thing I can think of that gets that hot are stars and I don't think you'd have a sound of a star.
edit: Me fail English? That's unpossible!

Is this an actual temperature? Or just showing that I am really way off?

Here I'll just lump together some guesses,

Partical accelerator (would be far off from a nuclear reactor, near 0 kelvin)
(somehow) some application of a fusion reactor
You having fun with some quartz bowls

I don't know.

I was gonna say a particle accelerator, but they aren't nuclear. You're just colliding sutff (protons and antiprotons) to get other stuff (quarks). Just finished a section on Particle Physics in my Physics elective. Very interesting stuff.

Okay I'm gonna tell you the answer since you guys for some reason eliminated it as a possibility.

The three sounds are different doppler shifts on the solar surface. Basically, that's what the sun would sound like, if you were able to hear it.

Posted by Der_Teufel on Nov. 08 2001,12:05
I was thinking about stars and the sun but I ruled it out cause I didn't think you'd have anything that would be a sound of either.
