so my netscroll mouse fux0r3d my pc up by crashing my computer on restart completly after just 2 months in service and is just dead now. can you believe it a MOUSE brings a fucking operating system to its knees! so i'm stuck on my backup serial 2 button mouse until i can buy a new one and god is it hard using a mouse without a scrolly button. plus the mouseball is large enough to feature in an indiana jones movie ffs oh well it "just" about lets me play CS so i'm kinda ok------------------ -Arthur Lowe Posted by Rhydant on Jun. 21 2001,23:08
get a Microsoft IntelliMouse Optical. its great. its got the scroll wheel dohicky and the 2 buttons on the side so you can go Back and Forward in the internet. a great piece of hardware, it is.and its great for CS! just assign the Strafe Buttons to the side buttons (Mouse 4/5) and assign Turn Right/Left to the arrow keys or whatever. its the only way to play CS! ------------------ Posted by Dark Knight Bob on Jun. 21 2001,23:24
don't optical mice have more latency than the ball ones?

MaximumPC did a review on them last year saying that they are nice but they are real laggy for fast gaming, i.e. Quake, Half Life, Unreal Tournament.

I have a Microsoft IntelliMouse and I have never experienced said lag. I was thoroughly addicted to UT for about 9 months (until my school installed a firewall) and got to where I was ranked in the top 5\% (ngWorldStats) and could own just about anyone with instagib, but I never noticed any lag. Maybe it was because my crosshair actually moved every time I moved my mouse, rather then the 50\% that a ball mouse gave me.Of course, I could be wrong. ------------------ |
