Cathode ray tubes give off a low frequency EM radiation (named Van-Eck radiation). This radiation is not attenuated to the same degree as visible light by most building materials, so can probably be recieved from outside the residence.I don't know the URL of where you could get a device to "view" van-eck radiation...
