At least I thought I was until last week. Then I started getting slowdowns and long periods disconnected from the Comcast@home service. So I called them up to have a tech come out and figure out whats wrong. They came today and proceeded to inform me that the reason I was having problems was my TV Tuner was putting noise in the line. Gave me a high-filter for that, and left. It must have done something, because I tried downloading some stuff and was getting downloads in excess of 600KB/s, as opposed to the old 300-500 I was getting before. I even got a screenshot for those of you who don't believe it. By the way, if you don't have that program, I can definitely recommend it. I found it on Tweakfiles.com last year. So if you are having problems with your cable connection, it might be as simple as interference from your TV or TV Tuner card. If I'd known it would be a problem, I would have had them put a second line in for the TV Tuner instead of doing a line splitter deal, but you live and learn. And if you live in or near Philadelphia, I recommend cable over DSL for two reasons: it's cheaper and it's faster. Unless you live right next door to the Telephone Company in which case DSL might be a little faster, but not enough to warrant the extra บ/month. I have tried both so I do know what I am talking about. ------------------ Posted by eng_man on Jun. 08 2000,19:46
*sigh*This is soooo not fair, everyone other relative of mine has cable and yet me, the person that set up and fixes their computers, is still stuck with dialup. Whata rip. At least there's work ... mmmm multiple T3's (at least, could be a bigger pipe). ------------------ Posted by Hellraiser on Jun. 08 2000,20:12
That's tough, eng_man. It seems that DSL and Cable only come where the one already is and there are some areas that aren't expected to get either till 2002 from what I hear. What a bum rap ------------------ Posted by Avenger on Jun. 08 2000,21:50
Try Massdownloader.... < http://www.metaproducts.com/mpMD-AY.html > It opens 10 channels to a server, instead of 4 and was a lot more reliable than DAP, at least until it expired. Posted by DrunkNigel on Jun. 08 2000,23:21

I'm thinking I may have to get a separate line installed for my TV Tuner, cause even with the high filter, I get some disconnects. Oh, well.------------------ Posted by eng_man on Jun. 09 2000,20:07
Yup, we just keep getting the date pushed farther and further back, last I heard it would be ready 2001. This is something that was supposed to be done a few years ago.The saving grace is work, since I'm there 1/2 my waking hours it almost makes up for not having broadband. Just downloaded something at 1200 kb/sec from UUNet *splash* ------------------ Posted by Hellraiser on Jun. 09 2000,20:53
