its one of my fave sci-fi stories ever, the film is excellent, and if you like the film, you'll love the book, because its even better, theres so much they missed out making it into a film!

the first movie (4 hour version here) is much much better than the new one. At least, thats my personal opinion. Sadly, the original doesnt have the spiffy graphics of this day and age, but it still kicks a monkeys ass. The acting in the new one is questionable. Basically im just saying i think the original does the book justice, while the tv series does not, although they might not have as large a budget as did the original.

You guys over there see TREMORS?

That's on rather frequently over here.

it's quite a classic though.

Yes, Tremors is a _great_ movie! it's one of Kevin Bacon's best roles ever

But i didn't like the Dune movie at ALL. I read the book a few times, and absolutely love it, but i've tried to watch the movie twice and fallen asleep both times.

tremors was awesome. and, well, from what ive gathered, the old movie was not a very good translation from the book. seeing as how i have yet to read the book, i would not know. but as we all know, budget isnt really all that high of an importance, just how its spent. i mean come on, the sci fi dune's scenery is obviously bluescreened on behind, and its someones drawing. thats bad use of budget, because i concentrate on that instead of the movie because it looks so unrealistic...wouldnt a plain rock face have been cheaper than a big drawing of a city? anyway, i like the one on sci fi, its keeping me awake better(i liked the other one, i just fell asleep a couple times)and i think its pretty well done, except for that backround scenery...

I read up to the 5th book and part of the 6th i thought they were all great, the dune series are some my favorite books, im also a david lynch fan so i loved the movie and didnt understand why people hated it so much. though they do have to cut out alot because alot of the book is these long introspectives and internal monologs, and how they see the hidden weapons in the other guys sleve.
the tv one is ok but the casting is bad and the harkonans are totaly diffrent in the book they're 85\% more vicious and 200\% more gross. but as sifi tv shows go id have to say its realy good ,but compared to the book and the movie it seems limp.

I read some of the book along time ago and saw teh original movie, but didn't watch the mini series. My old computer came with the first Dune game on CD-ROM. Anyone want it?
