Forum: The Classroom Topic: A BX chipset mobo the supports 133 FSB! started by: aventari Posted by aventari on Aug. 19 2000,15:47
< http://www.msicomputer.com/support/CPUStatus/CPUStatus.asp?ProductID=36 > These dumbasses at MSI claim their MS-6163Pro (intel 440bx chipset) will officially support the 133 mhz FSB. Am I crazy here? Am I wrong in thinking that the BX chipset WILL NOT SUPPORT an AGP 1/2 divider?!?! Can someone help me out here? ------------------ Posted by kai on Aug. 20 2000,00:27

Where on that page does it say it officially supports a 133mhz FSB?All I see is that PIII EB CPUs will work on it. It doesn't say that it officially supports the 133mhz FSB only that newer PIII _CPUs_ will work on it. I think you might have read into it a little bit maybe ... It say it supports an EB chip, the 833 and the 1000.. These are 133 mhz bus, so by inference it's saying it supports the 133 mhz bus. sure the chip will run, but your vid card might not. i just dont see how they could mislead people like that ------------------ Posted by cr0bar on Aug. 20 2000,18:02
I'm running my GeForce just fine on a 133mhz bus....2/3 divder.

I'm not disagreeing with you. Some cards will work on a 133 FSB ... some won't.But I still think your reading into it. It just says that it will recognize the CPU. Nothing else. Posted by aventari on Aug. 29 2000,14:45
thats true.it's the misleading of the less knowledgable user thing that bugs the sh*t outta me though. ahh well. <thread closed>
