Yes, it's amazing how manipulative some ads can be, pressing people's buttons without telling the whole story :-)

You mean G*d Damn commercial don't you? Or are you another one of those gun nuts?
Posted by RenegadeSnark on Aug. 14 2000,11:04
I am by no way a gun nut but I think that commercial is 100\% correct. I have before the commercial and I think it's a great way to tell the message.

Kudos for the perfect manipualtion with ripping the flag

I'm a Canadian so I haven't been exposed to all of the issues surrounding the second amendment. I'm curious, why do you feel that the right to bear arms is so important?

We need them to defend ourselves against the completely psychotic presidents we elect.

But where is Gamera?

LOL. Maybe Canada needs a second amendment. We've had some pretty crazy Prime Ministers... Nothing as scandalous as Clinton or Nixon, but we've had some doozies.

Ah well. I don't feel like disturbing a hornet's nest. I'm gonna leave this topic alone. Forget my question.

ARGH.

Clinton was nothing, dammit! Clinton was blown WAY out of proportion.

All the presidents have done something like that, in fact, most have done something worse.

A lot of conservatives bitch about how awful "that liberal leftist bastard" Clinton is, completely ignoring the horror of THE REAGAN ADMINISTRATION. Now THERE was a bad president. Most of the time, he didn't know what was going on, and when he did, he was even worse!

My biggest problem with Clinton is his atrocious taste in women... bleeaaauurgh!

I could only laugh when I saw that commercial. I mean c'mon ...

We were there when we killed those kids at Kent State.

We were there at Mi Lai

We were there for Kennedy and King.

And now some liberal hippies want to take your guns away. They are spending your tax dollars to sue the very companies that make it possible for a 10 yr old kid to kill.

But don't take our word for it. We are innocent, like the tobacco companies: cigarettes do not cause cancer, hand guns are not made to kill people.

Because we love America- as long as you'll pay for our product.

I think the problem is the fact that we, as a society, have no respect for the value of life. I don't know how many times I've passed a small child and overheard his conversation about a TV show or movie in which he uses the phrase "killed him" to describe the demise of a character whether it's a fatal end or otherwise. In addition to this, the "killing scene" is always glorified and without consequences. They have no idea what it is to "kill" something. If we want to point fingers at someone, it should be ourselves for allowing the media to create this false image of death and the killing process. Remember, any weapon, tool or object can be deadly in the hands of a person who has no respect or concept for the value of life.

If you shake it more than twice, you're playng with it.

That is one problem, but not The problem. People are always looking for the "ONE" problem. there are many many problems.
