Hehe, me tooIt makes life a lot easier when you haven't bookmarked a page, but want to get back without typing the whole damn url out (or if you can't remember the whole url) ------------------ Posted by TonyDennis on Aug. 12 2000,03:37
Hrm, that smooth scrolling thing doesn't change anything, but I guess you meant the AutoComplete one, right?-Tony ------------------ Posted by jptech on Aug. 12 2000,23:18
It's the autocomplete feature.Problem is, sometimes it won't turn off even though you turn it off. It's a buried reg key. We get a lot of people here that don't like being told what to do by software (go figure... engineers not liking being told what to do) Posted by Sithiee on Aug. 13 2000,00:44
auto complete is a cool feature...but maybe its not for everyone...i dunno, i find bookmarks annoying as hell, cause if someone else uses your comp they can easily see the sites your frequent, but a quick history clear and then they dont know...its all about privacy...

if it bothers you that much install netscape

netscape's autocomplete is even worse.instead of a drop down menu, it finishes the url in the address bar. Posted by kuru on Sep. 12 2000,15:39
yeah i wish i could figure out how to turn that off. i'd use internet exploiter instead of nutscrape, but that one seems to crash 5 minutes after i open it, no matter what i do.------------------ Posted by Willy Pete on Sep. 13 2000,11:39
Click in the following order whilst in :>Tools >Internet options >Advanced button. Halfway down the list is a checkbox for 'Inline Auto Complete' Uncheck and you're a liberated person.

i went looking in netscape and the only thing i found wasedit=>preferences=> click on the "+" next to Navigator, under where you set your home page it says "Location Bar History" clear that. of course that is of no help sence next time you put in a url it will save it, Damnit! i'll just stop there Posted by kuru on Sep. 13 2000,22:15
yeah, that works for maybe, 10 minutes... but then it's useless again. or maybe there's a way to not log history.... but i doubt it.i hate all these new convenient 'features.' pains-in-the-ass is what they are. ------------------ Posted by noir on Sep. 14 2000,00:28
I'd get away from Internet Exploder and Micro$hit entirely.. Linux and Netscape, FreeBSD and Netscape, etc. Lots of other options.------------------ Posted by Observer on Sep. 14 2000,03:07
Or you could just use Opera, or if you wanna be really l33t, use Lynx and deal with it!------------------ Posted by Lordbrandon on Sep. 14 2000,04:27
no way you have to use neo planet

perhaps i wasn't clear enough... i don't have internet explorer. i want to turn off the auto complete function in netscape. and netscape doesn't have a tools menu. ------------------ |
