I need some help...I want to capture some screens from the movie star ship troopers, I use powerDVD wich is supposed to be able to do this but the button is not active or something. (settings are fine in powerDVD) I've also tried to do Print Screen and then paste into a drawing program but everything except the frame from the movie gets shown.. really weird... Now is there a way to do it because I really need those images Posted by jim on May 30 2000,09:27
PowerDVD is the only WinDVD program I know of that will work....Not sure why you are having problems with it. I downloaded the trial version and it works just fine. What version are you using??? PS, if anyone knows of a free program that will get the job done. PLEASE SHARE ------------------ Posted by InsomniaC on May 30 2000,09:37
I'm using powerdvd 2.55 build 0202and the button is just inactive I can't press it, when I hold the mouse over it it will show Capture Frame.. But pressing it has no use... Posted by jim on May 30 2000,09:59
I'm trying to remember, but I know there are setting for the capture option. Some capture to the clipboard, others capture multiple files to your hard drive....Try right clicking in the screen area and look how the options for that button are setup?????? ------------------ Posted by InsomniaC on May 30 2000,10:05
You can only change one thing, wich is wether it captures the frame to file, clipboard or makes it a background... and that kinda suxx I want my screenshot damnit... why is this so hard... and protected... :/ Posted by marc c on May 30 2000,10:25
What parts do you want captured?------------------ Posted by jim on May 30 2000,10:26
Did you try all of those???Does the button not even PUSH??? Like it's greyed out or something? Does it work with any other DVDs??? I think I might just contact CyberMedia. I think that's who makes PowerDVD. ------------------ Posted by InsomniaC on May 30 2000,11:30
yes that's what i meant... It's greyed out.And I can not awnser your question if it works on other DVD's because I don't have any other DVD in my possesion right now... sp that kinda suxx... Posted by InsomniaC on May 30 2000,11:33
and as for Marc c I just want to capture the last sequence when the movie is kinda over...When they say "we've got the ships" and then you see the fleet of new ships... That's all.. I just need some frame(s) of that... Posted by Hellraiser on May 30 2000,11:52
What you need to do, is go to configuration, go to video, then where it says "Use hardware acceleration" make sure that is unchecked. If that doesn't make the capture option available, try changing the video mode from autoselect to either bob or weave, but I don't think that does much. With hardware acceleration unchecked, DVD might be more choppy, but you should be able to capture. DVD playback will depend on your system configuration, especially how fast your CPU is and how much memory you have. But with the hardware acceleration on (which uses the graphics card) you probably won't be able to capture even though performance is better.------------------ Posted by InsomniaC on May 30 2000,12:07
Well... the button is not "greyed" anymore and I can capture frames...BUT I when I capture one frame I get a totally black image wich is nice but not what I want

InsomniaC - I've captured some frames from the scene you want; look < here >. If you need any others let me know. Enjoy!Oh yeah, there's seven 1mb files, so it may take a few minutes before they're all uploaded. ------------------ [This message has been edited by marc c (edited May 30, 2000).]
can't thank you enough! (now don't ask for money )
------------------ You can always D/L SnagIt32. It will grab anything that runs in a window. Technically it will "grab" a shot if you 1> Pause movie ------------------ ------------------ ------------------ I have done it before with friends using Matrix DVD, I will have to find the the program again and post a link later
