lame - does anybody remember Pinky and Brain? Jesus kiddie..They have not been gone for too long. You are talking to people that remember Voltron, Thundar, and He-Man. Nice second post by the way. Posted by k00gs on Jul. 17 2000,22:17

Hey, if you check your profile, there's a note that says you can't use the IMAGE tag in your signature.------------------ Posted by rig_hater on Jul. 18 2000,02:49
He-man rocked! LOLi remember growing up watching shows like Gem, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Spiderman, Batman, etc. What happened to the all the good cartoons?! (although I'm glad that i haven't been subjected to the care bears or teddy ruxpin (sp?) in years!) There's so much shit on the tv these days it's hard to find the good stuff anymore. btw, observer, i like your sig! ------------------ Posted by Observer on Jul. 18 2000,02:51
I think Cartoon Network has some of them, but they were running ads a while ago for a new network devoted to the old cartoons. Somewhere on their site, I think.------------------ Posted by The_Hiro on Jul. 18 2000,03:03
"Hey Herc! Hey Herc!""My bow and arrow Newton." "Hggghwheee!" Inane Trivia Question: What was the name of the villain's cat on that show? Posted by aventari on Jul. 18 2000,06:47
uhh, i didn't get that one does anyone remember Tranzor-Z?? i dont know if im spelling it right cause my friend always talks about how cool it was, but i've never seen the show. from what i've gathered it's a battletech/robotech style show, which i love, so i'm pissed that i missed it! haha ------------------ Posted by iso9k on Jul. 18 2000,13:16
yes...Snorks, StarBlazers, Transformers(original). Blue Falcon. Wonder Twins!

the old Herc show kicked ass! i watched it all the time. ghostbusters was kewl back in its day too. GO SLIMER!------------------ Posted by Zamt on Jul. 20 2000,02:04
The best series I remember was Galaxy Rangers. That just ruled. As for the Thundercats, Cheetarah was way hot!
Posted by The_Hiro on Jul. 20 2000,03:51
Happyfish:I can't believe you found that!! Looking at that webpage and listening to that cheesy song brings back so many memories... The best part of the show was that it was so economized. The animators were always recycling the same scenes (even worse than Flintstones). Did you ever notice that all the villains wore the same robe, and that the 'dragging the villain up the mountain scene' at the end of each episode was always the same no matter which villain was defeated (Whether it was Mask, Wilhelmina, or Daedalus)? Or that Hercules descending from Olympus was simply a single plate flipped back and forth? The storylines were recycled too (and anticipated the format of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers). Trouble would turn up in the form of some sort of monster. Hercules would have to do battle, but he'd neglect to put on his ring until the critical moment... Okay I'll go ramble on my own now. Answer to inane trivia question: Dido Posted by rig_hater on Jul. 20 2000,11:43
yep, herc's utterly horrible simplicity was what made it kewl. it was sooo cheezie! Posted by nautilus on Jul. 20 2000,12:07
I had some damn good cartoonage as a kid! Jem (yes, that is the correct spelling), He-Man and She-Ra, Shirt Tails, Grape Ape, Alvin and the Chipmunks; those shows were great. The Smurfs were so cool they belong in a class of their own. I must say, though, that the show I'm most greatful for having as a kid (granted, in reruns) was THE MUPPET SHOW! And I'm so glad Odyssey runs it now!

of all the old cartoons i used to watch, transformers is still my favorite. i think we should do something about the new stuff they have today. have any of you seen it? its getting progressivly worse...the series they have now, when they "transform" they dont even like move all the body parts around into a diff shape (which was the coolest part about transforming for me) now thy just have a bright light and presto! theyre transformed. i say we should join together and remove this crap from tv, and save this new generation. we must get transformers syndicated back on the tv!!! whos with me???...while were at it, lets bring back gi joes

My favorite cartoons: Animaniacs (including pinky and the brain) Luney Toons, Tex Avery cartoons, and of course my all time favorite: Tom and Jerry.------------------ Posted by Rol3x on Jul. 20 2000,20:12
ghostbusters and teenage mutant ninja turtles own! i remember when i went to see Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtle "The Secret of The Ooze" in theatres with me dad,i thought it was the shit. and i had all the action figures. i might just go get them out again.(I used to hate the old teddy ruxbin commercials. and anyone remember watching Rescue Rangers? i could be alone on that one.) Posted by *Feste* on Jul. 21 2000,00:46
personally - my favourite cartoons when I was younger were the road runner... the coyote was cool However, these cartoons pale compared to the animation that I've become obsessed with lately... Manga videos... I can't seem to get enough of them... my paycheck disappears on these videos every single month... heheheh - guess I'm still a kid. ------------------ Posted by SimplyModest on Jul. 21 2000,18:12

I remember Bionic six. It was OK but not as good as G.I. Joe, Transformers, and Voltron. Does anyone remember the Vehicle Voltron? it was season four of the series, and it featured a fifteen member Voltron force, subdivided into the land, sea, and air teams. Silverhawks was an OK cartoon too, but the Centurions were cool, even if they ripped off star trek with the beaming and everyithing.
Posted by Avalanche on Jul. 22 2000,05:07
Anyone Remember the Bionic Six. It was on real early in the morning, that was awesome....Damn that was too long ago....Gumi Bears, GI-JOE, GI-JOE the movie was even better, Ducktales, transformers all kicked ass too Posted by rig_hater on Jul. 23 2000,02:39
i loved the Muppet Show!! I wish it was still on the channels i've got. even sesame street's been going downhill lately. i used to also watch rescue rangers, ducktails, and beetlejuice. (and many more of course) ------------------ Posted by k00gs on Jul. 23 2000,14:01
Speaking of old shows, who remembers "Teknoman" (alternately Tekkaman in Japan) .. he was a space knight, he had a crystal he'd activate to morph into his robot version .. ? It was on channel 38 if you are a new englander =) How about Mutant League Football? That toon really really was awesome.
Posted by iso9k on Jul. 23 2000,20:21
GOBOTS!!!! I wish they would replay that one...
Posted by fendi on Jul. 23 2000,22:14
I loved Astro Boy And I remember Vehicle Voltron but prefered Lion Voltron. What about the Hall of Fame or something where all the marvel superheroes were all in the same show? (Green Lantern was my favourite after Wonder Woman). And its not a cartoon, but I loved Fraggle Rock! And also Voltes V.I also remember a myriad of other cartoons like the carebears, gummibears, that guy who turns into a tiny superhero and had a sidekick mutt who had his head in a doghouse coz he was so ugly, rainbow brite, punky brewster etc, etc which I don't know why I bothered mentioning except for the gummibears which was cool too Posted by Ozymandias on Jul. 23 2000,23:28
I used to watch Voltron, Thundercats, Ghostbusters, Transformers, GI Joe, the Back to The Future cartoon, Beetlejuice Super Mario Bros., a few episodes of Megaman and Double Dragon...And both Sonic The Hedgehog series, but those sux0red. Real bad-like. My favorites were Ghostbusters (but not fucking Slimer And The Real Ghostbusters, that series was lame!), and Transformers. I loved that transforming noise! That was great. If anybody could find a sound clip of that, I would be in debt to them for...Well, about a day, then I'd forget about it. But that would still kick ass. ------------------ Posted by nautilus on Jul. 24 2000,00:19
quote: I watch SS a lot babysitting, and I highly agree...after all, what's up with this new opening song??? I mean, I'm all for cultural diversity and all, but an urban/hip-hop version of the sesame street song? I miss the kids running through the field!! Posted by Sithiee on Jul. 24 2000,05:25
i remember mutant league...except they played lots of sports, like basketball and hockey too
Posted by Rol3x on Jul. 24 2000,22:05
did anyone here used to watch Magnum PI ? that show kicked ass. by the way you can get all of the theme songs for any of the shows youve mentioned on here from Napster. its worth it for me to hear the old ghostbuster theme song again and grin. 8-)

quote: Heh. I forgot about that show. I used to watch it too. I watched tons of television as a kid. TV practically raised me between the ages of 6 to 12. Sadly, it wasn't a very good parent... It didn't go to my high school graduation, it wasn't there to cheer me on during my wrestling matches, it didn't help me through my science projects and math homework... So now I'm estranged from TV (my shrink says I'm supposed to stop repressing my towards TV, but heck, I like keeping it bottled up. I think my angst helps me to be a productive person). Anyhow, back to the subject of Astroboy: did you ever do the little quiz at the end of show and "compare your answers with your friends"? I tried doing that once, and then all my 'friends' ridiculed me and the schoolyard bully beat me up. He said something about me being a 'stupid dweeb'. I dunno. Ah... Those were the days, weren't they? I want my childhood back. Posted by fendi on Jul. 25 2000,00:14
Sesame Street was the one that raised my older bro and I. But by the time we were old enough to go to school, our tv times was pretty much regulated. I think there was morning school, afternoon nap and then tv (if we weren't thrown outdoors), dinner and homework in that order. The only unferretted time we got to watch tv was when we went for our weekend visit to our grandparents and cousins. There, with the cousins, we would watch all the saturday afternoon cartoons. We did the quiz at the end but it was more like a big argument. No name calls (parents were within hearing distance) but lots of raised voices and ugly faces. By the time we got back home, all the compulsion to discuss it further was all used up. Consequently, I don't remember what my early schoolfriends (kindergarten to G1) talked about.different experiences and memories, but I do agree: Children can be so cruel tho. ps, what helped me with school work was my mom collecting all my older bro's quizzes/tests and running me thru them. Its amazing how little they used to change from year to year ------------------ Posted by Sithiee on Jul. 25 2000,02:16
i want my childhood back. i miss being little. i got so much more joy out of everything back then. now its all so jaded. all i have left in life to experience is getting laid, and by the looks of things thats a ways off...

Anyone watch beasties lately?I was at a friends and he watches it (yes he is an adult, as am I, by law anyway) and a couple of the robots traveled into the Ark (the orginal Autobot escape ship) and there were original transformers lying around still in stasis or something. Anyway, I thought it was kind neat. Sorry, I was bored... Posted by Bozeman on Jul. 27 2000,21:38
Ah, yes. In the U.S.A. we call it Beast Wars. It is pretty good, but it has been over for a while. The new series, Beast Machines, is just about to start a new season.
Posted by Sithiee on Jul. 27 2000,23:07
transformers is crashing and burning!!!! they dont even transform anymore! they just go "i am transformed" and they have a light and wooee theyre all transformed like. its not the same dammit! the entire point of the show was cool robots that transformed into cool vehicles, likes cars and jets...this is just fucking retarded.

Rainbow Bright used to scare me! Do you remember The Golden Condor? And this other program where a boy shone his torch on his bedroom floor and it made a wormhole into an alternative dimension? I think the cartoon I hated the most most Jossie + the Pussycats = allmost as bad as ScoobyDoo. Posted by kixzor2 on Aug. 31 2000,11:38
Oh yeah, I know this ain't a cartoon, but does anyone know of a program called T-bag or T-spoon?That thing where a girl had to collect teaspoons in a trippy as majic world and was being chased by a lady called T-bag or something like that??????? Posted by Bozeman on Aug. 31 2000,12:54
I only saw one episode of Rainbow Brite, then they cancelled it. I guess because I never saw the show, I didn't get it. I had no clue as to the story, so I didn't enjoy it, and then it was cancelled anyway. Oh well...

<nostalgia>alf..that show about the family who had a robot as a daughter... punky brewster (ok so those aren't cartoons, but they're old).. thundercats, he-man, she-ra, snorks, smurfs, gummi bears, the bloodhound gang (not the band), 3-2-1 contact... does anyone remember getting up at quarter to six in the morning and watching the test pattern for fifteen minutes to make sure you didn't miss the begnning of saturday morning cartoons? </nostalgia> ------------------ Posted by askheaves on Sep. 01 2000,15:29
There was a show that ruled, but nobody i've met has heard of it: Spiral Zone. It's one of the wierdest shows ever: these domes (looks like the metrodome) go up, and everybody within a 5 mile radius (not sure exactly how far) turns into a zombie. These evil bosses put the zones up to enslave people, and there was this fighting force that had suits that made them not become zombies. They had to go in and destroy these domes. Friggin' awesome show on every day at 3:00 (right after school). Also, Bionic Six rulez! Posted by LazyGit on Sep. 01 2000,16:01
You North American continent bods have missed out big time. It's nice to see that you got Thundercats, that was awesome. I used to tie bands around my biceps really tight so that I looked a bit like Mumra.I don't even know if this is the right name but does anyone else remember Lone Star. It was some sort of futuristic western with a cyborg cowboy and a horse that could walk and talk and had a huge musket. Whenever bad guys came along the town they stayed in transformed into some huge techno battle station. Not playing techno, obviously, but you know what I mean. If you're a brit, do you remember Superted and Bananaman? I've watched Bananaman recently and it doesn't suck. At all. I still laughed. It rocked. BTW I hated Alf, somebody had a doll of Alf and I tried to kill it. I think I succeeded. Posted by OgRe928 on Sep. 01 2000,17:47
Has anyone mentioned Alf thus far? Wouldn't want to forget him.------------------ Posted by birdy on Sep. 01 2000,19:08
There were basically two types of classic kids programs. The American ones and the British ones. The American ones were just pure entertainment, whereas the British ones were just pure surrealism. I can remember a lot of the British ones by name and roughly what they were about, but nothing in great detail. Why's that, because they just didn't make sense, and they still don't now. Want an example - Button Moon. What other kids program would have a story about a moon monster in a flying wok? Have a gander at < www.80snostalgia.com/classictv/ > or < www.sausagenet.co.uk > Both brit based sites. I'm shocked to find that the subject of the Mysterious Cities of Gold hasn't been mentioned yet. That rocked! Can anyone remember when all this was fields? Nostalgia aint like what it used to be. ------------------ Posted by Bozeman on Sep. 02 2000,00:55
The first site you posted doesn't have VOLTRON!!!!!! How could it possibly be an 80's nostalgia site w/no Voltron: Defender of the Universe?
Posted by Nemo2342 on Sep. 02 2000,20:35
Dangermouse, Count Duckula, Gummi Bears, Voltron, GoBots, GI Joe, Transformers, Duck Tales, Lone Star, Inspector Gadget, Fraggle Rock, He Man, and on and on and on.------------------ Posted by mr100percent on Sep. 03 2000,03:21
Ewoks, Batfink, Heman, ghostbusters, captain planetand there was the New Kids on the Block cartoon. Anyone remember that? Posted by LazyGit on Sep. 03 2000,13:09
Ghotbusters was cool, except for Slimer. I always wanted to be Winston or whoever the black guy was. I'm white by the way.I know this is a question that gets asked a lot but was there ever a cartoon character that you fancied? Personally, I only ever watched Inspector Gadget because of his illegitimate daughter. She had looks AND brains. And in Thundercats, what did Mumra do to change from the weedy mummy into the big muscley green mumra with red eyes? I had the action figure for him and you could light up his eyes. It rocked bells. He ripped Liono's arm off once. Posted by cr0bar on Sep. 03 2000,14:30
Gadget.
Posted by Observer on Sep. 03 2000,15:46
By the way, Penny was Gadget's niece, not his daughter. Also on a nostalgia kick, anyone ever get a chance to see "Get Smart" where Don Adams, the voice of Gadget first did that role? I'm not talking about "Get Smart Again" that Fox ran for a while either.------------------ Posted by Dead72 on Sep. 03 2000,18:33
Inspector Gadget, GI Joe, Voltron, Smurfs, Gummi Bears, Scooby Doo, Fraggle Rock, anyone remember why those little dude were building the tracks that the fraggles keept(sp) on eating. My fav out of all those when i was a little un was Smurfs, and i lived in rurle california so cartoon selection was at a minimum. cartoon characters that you had a thing for?i dunno, i can't recall any. i do remember being addicted to a cartoon about a guy with skunk striped hair who drove around in a car and had to run away from these evil plants that turend into cars... jayce and the monster mines... i think... something like that. anyway, if i ever had a crush on a cartoon, it was jayce. i used to skip school to watch that cartoon. ahhh those were the days. does anybody else remember that cartoon, or am i on crack? ------------------ Posted by kuru on Sep. 05 2000,05:13
ok i apologize for making this two posts instead of one....but observer, the fraggle thing....dude, mrs. heap. you reminded me that i used to love mrs. heap. all that..it was on hbo or cable of some type.. i had to go to my friend's house to watch fraggle rock and you can't do that on television. how'd alanis morrissette go from 'you can't do that on television' to being on mtv naked? i don't know *slimed* ------------------ Posted by LazyGit on Sep. 06 2000,16:20
cr0bar, wasn't Gadget the female mouse that was in that Disney cartoon series about a bunch of mice that would go and do... stuff? She was the one that would always build things and save the stupid ass boy mice lives every episode. There's more coming back now. They had a kind of air balloon boat that had a helium balloon to lift it and they could fly it around looking for missions. Why? I don't know, they're mice, who's to say what drives a mouse to do stuff with a screwdriver that's twice her size.Stop sniggering. Posted by kuru on Sep. 06 2000,20:18
