Damn cr0bar, where the hell are you? I have 3:22 by my watch and it's 9:00 wherever your server is? Geez. No wonder you don't post until like 3 in the morning here...

hmmm...the +5h38m timezone...i know that...?
Posted by jim on May 18 2000,15:06
It says right at the bottom HST.Hawaii Standard Time??? ------------------ Posted by Lizzy on May 18 2000,18:34
Put it on eastern! =)
Posted by eng_man on May 18 2000,18:43
Everyone knows EST is the only "real" timezone =)cr0: you should do something similar to voodooextreme. On the post's it has something akin to 5:30PM (your time). I don't know how feasible this is to do, but it is a neat and worthwhile feature cause I don't wanna do math just to figure out when something is posted. ------------------ Posted by Lizzy on May 18 2000,18:46
You can change time zones in the admin control panel. Don't pretend like you don't know where it is, cr0!
Posted by Ansible on May 18 2000,18:52
Set it to CST. That way my life will be easy.
Posted by cr0bar on May 18 2000,19:36
Why would I want to change it, Liz?I live in Hawaii, so I want it to show times that are meaningful to me. If anyone wants to move here to take advantage of this, I can recommend some areas to live in. ------------------ Posted by Lizzy on May 18 2000,19:38
Got a free room in your palace, cr0?
Posted by Ansible on May 18 2000,20:07
Want me to move in with you cr0? I bet you do, because I am a real babe magnet®. And I may allow some of that to rub of on you. besides, I am a "l33t hax0r" and AFAIK, the first one.
Posted by Lizzy on May 18 2000,20:11
Yea, well I know the best W4R3Z and AOL pr0gz sites. I can give cr0 the tools to be a h4x0r, so he won't need you!
Posted by Ansible on May 18 2000,21:24
Don't get in my way, biatch. I will now begin to pingflood you, with my 1337 33.6kbps upload.
Posted by Lizzy on May 18 2000,21:48
Fool, cr0 will love me for my cable modem! Don't make me have to nuke you.

Why not put it on GMT, the official time from which all other timezones are calculated, and screw everyone's sense of when items were posted.
Posted by Bob_Cannibal on May 18 2000,23:26
Can I just move into your hosting facility(as seen in blade)...I can reverse engineer win98 (it's now bug free) Posted by Hellraiser on May 18 2000,23:38
I am in awe of your *gag* "1337n355" can I have your autograph?

Oh yeah ... well ...I GOT A SNAKE MAN! Posted by Hellraiser on May 19 2000,00:18
So the lam0r wants me to get off his property, eh? Well I've got news for you! I've got the MegaHealth, Quad Damage, and the railgun with 40 slugs, so you can guess what'll happen to you! Not that I couldn't frag your ass with the gauntlet, but that wouldn't be as fun.------------------ Posted by Epoxy on May 19 2000,03:37
Yeah GMT is the only proper one.------------------ Posted by DuSTman on May 19 2000,04:22
Alternatively you could switch it to Swatch Internet time,(Swatch is trying to create an internet based timeline where it's the same time all over the world.) A day is divided into 1000 beats. < http://www.swatch.com > for more info Posted by Goa`uld on May 19 2000,04:26
I have orgasms about swatch beats...

That net time thing confused the crap out of me------------------ Posted by eng_man on May 19 2000,08:41
Why not just use metric time?Oh wait, that's stupid. ------------------ Posted by Ansible on May 19 2000,10:08
Railguns are for pussies. Men use knifes.
Posted by DuSTman on May 19 2000,12:58
Why is using metric time stupid? Why is it any more stupid than dividing a day into 24? I mean, 24? Posted by Hellraiser on May 19 2000,16:51
You know where the 24 hour day came from? Don't be knocking it. As for knives versus railguns, railguns inflict more damage, and more damage is better. With quad damage I once got 4 frags with one shot. It would be very hard and rather stupid to attempt that with a knife, a guantlet could do it though.
Posted by DuSTman on May 19 2000,16:57
No, actually i don't know where 24 hours came from.Sure, a light/dark cycle seems a sensible thing to define as a day in our time, and a year one rotation around the sun.. 24 hours? if anyone knows why 24 hours then please reveal... Posted by Raven on May 19 2000,19:04

i dun think there will be much of a change even if the time zones were to be adjusted.answer me truthfully, since when do we bother about time? even so, how many times have we ever been on time or on schedule? Posted by Wolfguard on May 22 2000,14:12
just do what the military does. Use Zulu time. based on a randomly picked time. ------------------ Posted by Whirlwind on May 22 2000,16:59
Never on timeNever on schedule and damn proud of it ------------------ Posted by Raven on May 29 2000,01:03
everything should be put on 1337 haX0r time so that no one can read it yeah!!!
Posted by Kayy on May 29 2000,23:42
I'd be happy if time got switched to GMT, since I live in the UK... As for Swatch Internet Time, it is calculated by @ numbers from 1-1000, but it still doesnt change the time in your house, so its still useless, and besides, the UBB doesnt support it, I should know. I personally dont care about the time its set to, I'm usually posting/replying on here at about 11pm - 2am EST by your clocks, 4am - 7am GMT by mine. ------------------ Posted by Happyfish on May 30 2000,00:39
quote: 24 beer in a case? Coincidence? seriously...I heard it was something to do with the fact that ppl used to count in base 6 or base 12 or something...
Posted by Hellraiser on May 30 2000,07:28
It is based on the old babylonian system of counting in which they divided a year into 360 days, a circle into 360 degrees (6 parts, each 60 degrees, with 60 minutes in each degree, and 60 seconds in each minute.) They divided the day into 4 parts with 6 hours in each part, making 24 hours. There were 12 daylight hours and 12 night hours. The first 6 hours of daylight were considered to be from when the sun rose to when the sun was at the highest point in the sky, and so on and so forth. The 24 hour day had a lot of spiritual significance to them as well. The 24 hour day is something used worldwide, one of the few universaly accepted standards. It does not make sense to try to come up with a different system when the one we have works well and has no resistance. Posted by Lordbrandon on May 31 2000,18:11
Yea......but its so odd
Posted by incubus on May 31 2000,20:05
then use UTC, the world's l33t3st time zone. they use it on distributed.net if you didnt notice ------------------ |
