I just bought myself a Nokia 5165, and I'm already playing with the programmable ring tones  Does anybody here has some great links for free ring tones ? I'll begin myself; here's Eiffel 65' My Console in RTTTL:

i was under the impression that you could get ringtones and logos in the US except for the fact that the greedy ass service providers disallow it so you have to buy from them.

Well, ringtones and operator logos are nothing more than SMS messages, or you can upload them directly to your phone with a direct serial link.So even if your provider doesn't allow them by SMS, you still got the serial link to upload. ------------------

i got some software that allows me to send sms directly to the phone via infrared, so how do i go about sending a ringtone?

I get to download ringtones and operator logo's for free from < www.mtnice.co.za > but you have to log on and stuff. Its free, though. I'm not sure if it'll allow you to subscribe if you're not an mtn subscriber, though. But, hey, it's worth a shot. If you get yourself a serial cable to your nokia phone, you can get a whole lot of software that allows you to connect to your phone and create your own logos and ringtones.

my mate got himself a sony mobile for like £140 . well i guess if you can afford it
but whats cool about it is that you can upload wav files to it to play as ringtones. so his phone goes "[arnie]fuck you asshole[/arnie]" which is kinda cool------------------

What kind of serial cable do u need to link your mobile fone to yer computer? Where does the hookup go?

i think it comes with the phone or you should be able to just buy one from any mobile phone retailer. theres no reason why they shouldnt stock some------------------
