I have a slightly interesting situation that I would like you ‘re guy’s opinion on. I live in an apartment complex (in college, on campus) with 3 other people. My absolutely favorite thing to do on FRIDAY and SATURDAY night is to get fucking hammered and listen to music at about 1/2 he volume that I would LIKE to listen to it at (I have a pretty nice sound system). None of my roommates have a problem with this except for the one roommate whom I DON’T get along with very well (neither do my other two roommates) . He lives directly above me and when I turn on my stereo he JUMPS UP AND DOWN ON THE FLOOR, rather then simply ASKING me to turn my music down. This really pisses me off. If he were to actually ASK me to turn my music down I would gladly do so, but the fact that he JUMPS ON MY FUCKNG CELING rather then talking about it pisses me off, so I don’t turn it down (at least not recently).

My question is: am I being an asshole?

Silver, I have been trying all year (somewhere around 7 months), but it doesn’t help. Up until this point I HAVE been turning it down when he jumps on my ceiling (regardless of how loud I have it) but it started to really piss me off to the point where I quit.

A really good headphone system? Or have your sour roommate switch rooms with another for saturdays or something. Or you switch with one of the other two.

dude, that guy should be shot in the face. if he cant deal with you playing some music the intelligent way (i.e. asking you to turn it down, or at least talking to you about it), then dont. just stick that musical dildo straight up his ass and let him ride it all night!

tell the dude to fuck off, and if he continues talk to your roommates and try to figure out why he's still in there other then to pay rent. I'm sure you can find someone who'd be cool with it that can pay monthly bills.

My upstairs neighbor got PO'd one night when i was listening to music and instead of even giving me the courtesy of stomping on the floor, they just called the office and reported it as a lease violation, so a few days later i get a notice from the office to call them.

although they could have stomped on the floor to tell me to stop, i wouldn't have been able to seperate it from when they stomp on the floor just to walk around.

I live in an upstairs apartment (all apartments aroud here are two story). One night, I was vacuuming and playing loud music at around 11:30PM (Thursday night?). The neighbors started beating on the ceiling with a broomstick, or something.

Yeah, that one was definitely my bad, so we turned it all down.

In your case, you'd think that he would have figured out that you have a routine, and he can expect every weekend to get this. He can adjust, or talk to you during the week and ask you to keep it down. And, who knows... maybe your other roommates don't like it either, but they like you enough to not bitch you out. Who knows. My roommate during school played his music really loud all the time (and it was Pet Shop Boys, New Order, etc) and he didn't have anything but trebble coming out. I would have to leave because it was that bad.

I'd say invest in some headphones. Not everybody is ready for good loud music all the time.
