I am awesome at playing defense hehe. I had a setup that looked sorta like this:code: I was stripes. Yes I was behind by 4 balls, but I ended up winning because there was no way the other guy could possibly hit the 8 ball! w00t! Posted by Bozeman on Apr. 01 2001,16:16
Nice text artwork.------------------ Posted by jim on Apr. 01 2001,16:22
A 14 12 split with backspin would have cleared the 2 bastard balls without moving the 8, leaving a clear shot for the next round.------------------ Posted by CatKnight on Apr. 01 2001,22:03
no see he was solids, and our house rules are that you can't hit the other guy's ball first, otherwise you loose your turn (or if it's down to the 8-ball, you loose). Also my picture wasn't perfect. the 12 and the 14 weren't equidistant from each other and they weren't aligned directly infront of the 8-ball like that. basically, there was no room for him to jump, no possible way to bank, there was absolutely nothing he could do. muahahha

Jeezus christ, remind to never play catknight or jim a game of pool thats worth anything. Ever. I mean, I like pool, but fuck, I'm not even near that good. In fact, if I'm ever in Texas, I'm going to have no choice but to hang out with jim and get my ass kicked at pool untill I can hold my own ------------------ Posted by Sithiee on Apr. 01 2001,23:29
i play pool. by play i mean suck at. but yet i still find it fun even when im getting my ass kicked.

Alright. I am absolutely amazing at pool (I have been 0wned though). there's only one thing wrong with what you're sayig: he could've called two-band safe. Basically, he has to, at least, hit two bands and after that it doesn't matter which ball he hits. If he sinks the cue ball then he loses of cousre.
Posted by CatKnight on Apr. 01 2001,23:53
yeah thats what he did, and on his next shot he sunk the 8-ball...and the cue ball! heeheethis is actually the strategy i use in 9-ball. i get the cue behind another ball so that i get a ball-in-hand and an easy shot at the 9-ball. and jim-those were the house rules, i thought it was weird too. Never play pool with a man who brings his own table.

I mean, how hard is it to miss the black when its the only ball on the table? ------------------ Posted by CatKnight on Apr. 04 2001,21:06
exactly. oh yeah, but don't forget about the other 4 balls. especially the 3 that were directly blocking any possible shot at the 8.

A good jump shot'll do it. Never even had to touch the stripes. That or calling a safety just to hit your shit outta the way. And if he sunk the cue after the eight he has no spin control and deserved to loose. But still, nice strategy. Not impossible to beat but almost guarantee's you another shot. ------------------ "On a long enough timeline the survival rate for anyone drops to zero." Posted by CatKnight on Apr. 05 2001,03:09
there was no room to jump either. lemmie re-draw a close-up.code: Posted by SiLVeR54 on Apr. 07 2001,22:59
couldn't he bank it off the top and bounce it back at the 8 ball avoiding the 2 balls protecting it?silver ------------------ Posted by CatKnight on Apr. 08 2001,00:05
actually the 14 was blocking that bank. i still didn't draw it quite right. i'll have to set it up on a table and take a pic.

that would help, but still, i couldn't help but try..silver ------------------ |
