Yeah, the only problem with the "spam his boards" theory is that every post gets verified by a moderator to validity now.

Though, I don't know if every EDIT gets verified too... that might be an idea...

Too bad I can't find out because he banned my IP address from even looking at the forums.

I'll bet ANYTHING that he is under 21 and lives with his parents.

Ya see ...this is how wars get started. You do something that somebody takes offence to (granted the mocking of the contest was funny as all hell and I wet myself reading the news post) and they feel they have to retaliate to save their dignity. They'll usually go too far and then you gotta retaliate back. Pretty soon it starts to get personal. Crank calls, poisoning of your pets, firebombing of you house ...the usual bad shit. One day you will find youself staring down at your lifeless body and wondering if posting 3.3MB pics on the enemy's board was really worth it. Lets be bigger then that. Anybody who can read knows that Detonate pulled one over on IpKonfig, do we really gotta start acting like a-holes now?

Look how long it takes to load one of their pages -- if your processor can handle it! It froze IE on every computer I tried it on, or slowed it incredibly far beyond reason.

Okay, guys (mostly reffering to syf0n at this point)... A lot of us (yes, including me) had our fun with this a few days ago. Then the guys at IPKonfig spammed detnet. Big deal, we struck first. We're even now, if you can call it that. I was reading through the IPKonfig forums a few minutes ago and found this, and I tend to agree with it. We had our fun, let's leave it at that.

Alright, I'll accept the fact that I'm a day late on most of this IPKONFIG nonsense because I was out of town.

But the fact remains that this guy is still acting on the premise that the people here are assholes -- ask some of the winners of cr0bar's contest how much spam they're getting now! Yes, even AFTER that dirty douche claimed to have laid the issue to rest, he still went out and signed people up for spam -- because he's a fuckwit. I'm just giving him a little more of what he has coming. Besides, it's not like anyone actually reads his forums...

How is detnet going to come off looking like assholes when I've posted in his forums using an alias that has absolutely no relation to detnet? Hm? Sure, he can assume, but what's he going to do, point all of his fingers at everyone in here? And in that case, what would he do? Bitch and whine on the front page of his hole-in-the-wall HardOCP ripoff of a site? He copied the WindowsXP design, for Christ's sake. He can't be that bright.

Christ, folks, I didn't want to have to do this:

Realize that the last action I took directly pertaining to the impetus of this matter was to remove the phrases in my original contest news post which could be percieved as encouraging spamming of ipKonfig's forums. I did this about twelve hours after creating the post. Since then I've had nothing to do with any hostile efforts towards ipKonfig or its staff, including Scott.

Yes, I have gotten thirty or forty mailing list signups, and yes, a few of them contained lists of a hundred or so sub-lists. I also got about twenty messages from "Bin laden" telling me to visit < www.killyouallpeople.co.uk. > I also had to remove about 94 identical comments posted to one of my news items. I saved the first one and changed the name to Scott Mikules, which I believe is only fair since they originated from an IP in his town, and he posted two sets of my personal contact information along with direct encouragements to commit illegal acts of harassment with them. No, I don't need to point out that this is horribly out of proportion to any percieved damage I inflicted on his site, since I never even registered a forum account and all the posts and accounts he objected to were erased before I even woke up the next morning.

However, other than this 'aftermath' stuff, I've been totally silent and inactive on the issue because honestly, after I edited my original post--what was there to say? Scott never contacted me directly, his first actions were to call my parents (he called again on Friday but as per my instructions no one answered), and commence the rather childish actions outlined above. In reality, I deal with this kind of crap all the time. I appreciate the support that I've seen in my forums, but folks--there's nothing to be said. I agree that every single thing Scott has said and done is objectionable, but guess what? He is the sole supporter of his cause, and if no one pays any attention to him, he will go away. I think my lack of action has proved this. Not to justify his actions, but those of you who still feel he is a problem have probably been courting it in some way, and my advice is to find something better to do. The word 'ipKonfig' doesn't even appear in the first three folds of the front page, it's old news, forget about it.

This is not meant to soften any blow for Scott, because I have no fondness for him, believe me. It is, however, a suggestion that any petty flame/spam wars you all want to conduct be orchestrated from somewhere other than the detnet forums, because the matter ceased to be relevant a scant twelve hours after it started, and I find it quite tiresome.

bah, I prefer to think of it as our collective thoughts being expressed by a few, and not spam.

I still don't see how spamming him gave him the go ahead for personal attacks and harassing someone's family. Either way, he took it to another level and way beyond what it was. I mean the way he reacted you'd have thought we pissed on his dog and set his house on fire.

hahahaha, that reminds me of band a few years back. people were behaving stupidly, so the student teacher was all like "do any of you know what a rhetorical question is?" and we were all like "yeah, of course." i about died laughing.
