I'm soooo excited. Today my boyfriend and I are going to go see his step mom at work so we can get a loan to get a car! We are thinking about getting a brand new Saturn because they are cheap, or a nice used car. I am so happy that I won't be having to drive my grandmas Chrysler New Yorker anymore! WOOOO HOOOOOO! Any ideas about what kind of car we should get that is 10k or under?

Used 97 Crown Victoria LX with all options was a lil under 10k USD, it's an awesome car. Digital and electronic EVERYTHING. Only 130000kms on it. And it's my school car! muahaha

I got myself a new Protegé5 3 weeks ago, and i'm far from regreting it
That's soo sexy! Silver, with air conditioning & moon roof. I don't think will make any mods on it, except maybe tinting windows, xenon headlights and adding two speakers in the back. ------------------ This message has been edited by blanalex on October 30, 2001 at 03:57 PM Posted by caseman984 on Oct. 29 2001,20:58
Well, we just got a used saturn, its a great car, nice soundsystem, nice, quiet engine, good gas milage, dent-proof doors (I kick em when I get mad, and no one is the wiser)All under บk.------------------ quote: Posted by syf on Oct. 29 2001,21:07
Depends on how many seats/ what features you want. If I had to spend under 10k on a car, I'd get a 1983-1987 Porsche 928 or 944. Then again, that's me and my needs...

quote: either way, that's still like 80,000 miles for a 4 year old car. thats 20,000 miles a year, or almost 400 miles a week! Posted by veilside on Oct. 29 2001,21:53
quote:the Protegé5 is a hot, hot, car. i think it looks nice enough without any mods, although i'm sure they'll be coming out with all kinds of shit to fully ricerize it. Posted by miNus on Oct. 29 2001,22:26
Go < here > to find prices and information on every new car you could possibly think of.Exactly how much room do you have to play around? Is บK the max you can spend? You could get a < 2000 Camaro > with a 3.8L engine for *close* to that. Or an < 2002 S10 pickup >, if you're into that. Can you tell I'm biased towards Chevy? Seriously though, The Big Three are offering, what? 0\% financing for like 3 years at least. So I think if you want a new car, you want either a Ford (Mercury), Chrysler (Dodge or Plymouth), or Chevrolet (Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Cadillac, GMC, or Buick) You might even be able to still get a good deal on any 2001's that they have left on the lot. syf0n: We had a guy come into our speed shop the other night with a 2002 (I think, it was like a week old) Porsche Carrera. That thing is NIIIIIIIIICE! This message has been edited by miNus on October 30, 2001 at 05:28 PM Posted by syf on Oct. 29 2001,22:39
yeah? One of my dad's buddies has a 2001 911 Cabrio. The one that came in your shop, was it a c4 coupe? that's the only 911 I've never driven, the allwheel drive coupe. Supposedly great, but I can't imagine all wheel drive is great for racing. I prefer rear wheel drive myself. Posted by miNus on Oct. 30 2001,03:33
That car, but in black. I'm pretty sure it was just a RWD, not turbo either. Though, the turbo AWD would just... *drool* 0-60 in way too fast Posted by syf on Oct. 30 2001,04:09
the picture you've posted is of a turbo, not a carrera. while the 2002 carrera does have turbo headlights, it has no fixed wing like the one in your pic...also, the front intakes are different. and it has a lot less power. at any rate, you said it was a carrera...they don't make all wheel drive turbos. and the one in your pic has turbo rims, not available on the carrera. This message has been edited by syf on October 30, 2001 at 11:10 PM Posted by chmod on Oct. 30 2001,09:06
911 turbo... ::drool:: top speed of 189 mph. wowzers.anybody else ever seen the bbc show "Top Gear"? Posted by miNus on Oct. 30 2001,09:27
syf - Like I said: quote: Maybe I wasn't clear: I know it wasn't a turbo, and I think it was RWD. But it looked like that, minus the spoiler. < They don't make a Turbo AWD? > Posted by 1LT on Oct. 30 2001,17:24
Mmmm Porsche. A couple months ago the Chemo and I went to Zuffenhausen (the little town just above Stuttgart). I test drove a 2001 turbo 6-speed at the factory. That is AWD. Absolutely amazing car. I now have a great "...and then I hit the Autobahn..." story. It was better than some sex (not all, just some). 贓,000 is a little steep, though. Sometimes I love Europe. As for the บ,000, I'm biased toward old US steel. My 73 Satellite is waiting for me to get back. You could get a cool car for 10 grand or you could get a potentially cool car for and use the the other 8 to build it to something you want. Posted by veilside on Oct. 30 2001,20:00
hahah top gear... tiff needell is the man. i've never seen a guy who could drift every car like that.

The RUF Porsche on the Nurburgring are great. He's also get some other decent clips. Some clips from Best Of Motoring and Option (both Japanese car video mags). I'll say this about Preludes pre-1995: 4-Wheel-Steering is really cool, even if it is expensive to maintain.------------------ Posted by veilside on Oct. 31 2001,01:24

chmod: Top gear kicks ass!!! I have all the episodes on my comp at home ;-)Turbo AWD is news to me, I was under the impression that they only made RWD turbos. Oh well. Posted by Observer on Oct. 31 2001,12:58
Yup, below a certain speed the rear wheels turned the opposite direction as the front, which makes for very tight turns at low speeds. Above that speed, they go the same direction, so that when you change lanes, you go sorta sideways.------------------ Posted by veilside on Oct. 31 2001,15:47
whoa...that's interesting. wonder why the hell they did that

do not get an import!!!!!!!!! (unless its under a 3 (or more) year warrenty)its a living hell to pay for that shit when it breaks (and it will), even worst when you have to pay the payments and the repairs. first car was american, next car was import, then american, now an import again you would think i learned by now. sunroof is stuck up, the axle is poppin, and it needs a new clutch. on my last car 赨 and all would be good, now its close to 軸 (i didn't count the sunroof motor) american trust me... |
