A cow has a lot of meat. You kill a cow it'll go rotten in a couple of days before you've had a chance to eat any great amount of the meat. A lot of wastage which isn't what you want if you're struggling to find food to live on. Now a small animal, say a cat, can feed someone for a couple of days and be finished before it goes off. No wastage.
All energy in food comes from biomass of plant life.. You eat vegetables, you have a lot of mass to eat per unit energy but the best efficiency. You eat a low-level consumer (cow) you get less efficiency as the cow uses some of that energy itself but you have a very reasonable amount of mass to eat to get the energy you need.
A cow has a lot of energy per unit mass of it you eat, and therefore you waste a lot if you kill one and can only eat 1/8 of it before it goes putrid and gets maggot infested.
A cat is a more logical thing to eat if you're starving.
Eat more cow!

plus u cant get dairy products from cats
but i really couldnt care if some country wants to eat cats. problem is cats that are breed to eat are mostly today more of a delecacy rather than a main food source. plus because of the lack of respect for them they are locked up in very small cages without room to breathe let alone move. most die in transit to the markets and those that do survive usually die of exposure form the heat. a cow? well a cow can get its freak on with the local bull if she wants and still have time to scare wandering hikers into vaulting over barbed wire fences by chasing them. eating cats is sick cos of the animal rights abuse not cos of the fact that people eat them

The point is this: just because you think it's gross doesn't make it so. People in Asia get nauseous at the thought of drinking a cow's milk. Here, we parade the feat of drinking a dirty beast's pasteurized breast juice like it's the hippest gig in town.
IT'S ALL SUBJECTIVE, dicklicks. Just because you were born in a country were a certain organism is considered a domesticated pet doesn't make people who eat said organism ravaging, Satanic freaks. For all you know, those people may have a culture that has its roots in an area highly populated by wild cats. Perhaps the earliest people in Asian territories regularly feasted on feline, while those in Denmark ate whales, and those in North America ate buffalo, etc...
To be disgusted or upset by someone else's diet is just flat-out stupid. It shows you lack the mental capability to not only respect other cultures, but to realize that everything on this Earth has a place in the proverbial scheme of things. People use different resources for different reasons. And I can assure you, you are in NO PLACE to claim that you are right, and the other is wrong.

Another thing I can't stand: people who eat meat, but can't stomach the killing process.
There should be a law forcing meat-eaters to participate in the killing of their dinner...whether it be hunting it, pinning it down, chopping it's head off, skinning it, gutting it, or cleaning it.
