What do you all think is the worst comic strip ever, web or print? I've read a lot of truly awful ones, but I think the distinction definately goes to (formerly) DetNet's own Maniac and Brainiac. It was poorly drawn and unfunny and just had no redeeming qualities whatsoever.Then again, I'm not exactly a fan of User Friendly or just about any of the little-known web strips, either. one of the most annoying has got to be "for better or for worse." i mean, they don't even try to be funny most of the time. it's like a shitty sitcom broken up into 2 minute sections, and you get one per week.also, gasonline alley. another that doesn't even try to be funny. I would say the worst one that sticks out in my mind is that Badtech comic, although there have been a few worse ones mentioned on Something Awful.

forgot about family circus. i want to literally punt every one of those little bastards.and for all you guys, you probably forgot this one because you have maybe read it once. and you didn't really understand it when you did because it's just stupid bitches bitching (does that count as alliteration?). that's right, "cathy." quite possibly the most annoying strip of them all. and because i don't feel like opening a new thread, what are everyone's favorite strips (comic)? i nominate calvin and hobbes and foxtrot. my vote for present strips goes to Cathy. But here's one that's gona show my age. When I was a kid they used to have these male & female characters that were in these one picture strips called "love is...." and had a little caption below. AAAAGH! cheesy. They pervaded everything, car stickers, tshirts, posters. Think Teletubbies with the same desirability for the masses as Pokemon. I hated those then and I was only about 6. I've gotta vote for Family Circusi dont remember what movie it was, but whichever it was, the guy said it just right You read the sunday comics, and you get all the way through, laughing your ass off, then you see the Family Circus, sitting there, just waiting to suck. i didnt quote that exactly right, but you get the idea and i dont think we need to vote for best comic, that automatically goes to calvin and hobbes, although foxtrot is good too :P Posted by Bozeman on Jun. 26 2000,15:23
I once saw an old episode of MST3K, when they still had invention exchange. Joel invented a machine that combined any two comics into one comic. He put in a far side (one of the best) and a family circus. (one of the most preachy pieces of crap ever) The resulting comic was a dotted line path of little timmy getting chased by a pack of rabid hyenas. Now if that would only happen in the REAL family circus, I hate that one.

I would say the worst comic strip(s) ever are any of those soap opera strips.. I mean, fuck.. they give you like 3 lines of dialouge per strip and thats it.. The best ever, obiously Calvin and Hobbes.. just can't beat them. Posted by PersonGuy on Jun. 26 2000,23:03
