Topic: What's Your "Motto(s) To Live By"? (Latin only)

"Carpe Noctum" = "Seize the Night"

Pretty obvious why I live by this. The night time is the right time.

"Cogito ergo non ferio" = "I think, therefore I miss"

Don't think - shoot. By the time you've boarded your train of thought, I'll be derailing it with a .50 calibre slug. (God damn, I love the H&K PSG-1. Too bad shooting it feels like getting hit it the shoulder with a sledgehammer.)

Fuck that latin shit. Its dead.

"Due unto others then split"
"Dead is dead. Parts is parts."
"Check it buddy" makes sense if you play paintball

Our IT teacher left school and said the following

"Age et animo"

He said if anyone found out what it meant, and he ever saw us again, he'd buy that person a drink.

Any ideas anyone..

Also, my motto has always been "never commence work on an electrically powered device without isolating it from the mains first" - a sage piece of advice i'm sure we can all benefit from.

Well, either:
"The best fun is at someone else's expense."
or:
"It's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care." (Man, I love Office Space)

Accipere quam facere praestat injuriam.
It is better to suffer an injustice than to do an injustice.

Oderint, dum metuant.
May they hate me, if only they fear me.

(Personal favorite) Odi profanum vulgus et arceo.
I loathe the uneducated mass and keep them away from me.

And who can forget my sig?
He must fear many, whom many fear.

if someone tells me the latin translation of the following I'll make them into a plaque thing...
-shut the fuck up you skank whore
-I always forget my "special bag of magic" whenever I need it
-I love you all, except you, you, you, you... yeah, I don't like you either
-that song sucks, that band sucks, and most of all you suck (I use that when people talk all big about pretty crappy music)
-if it's not flamable, it's not my friend!
-Let them eat cake, for they will get fat and juicy >=)

and one last "serious" one I somewhat live by:
-You hit me, I hit you. Twice. Bitch.

Bah! I still hot spice my welding machine into the 220 on the hot side of the panel when i need it. Do you think i call the power company first? Then again 110 and 220 dont seem to bother me all that much. 440 3phase is another story. Ouch!

it's not the volts that'll kill ya. it's the amps.

wolfguard: they do use 440 V for the electric chair, and they crank the amperage and apply it in 1 second bursts. i've seen some rather lovely skull photos of executionees.. nice burn markings.

yeah bout the voltage thing. you know those things that wind up and make your hair stand on end that they have in schools to demonstarte static electricity. tesla coils >: ) well they give you a shock of approx. 10,000 volts and that dont kills ya now does it.

here's my personal favorite:

Quicquid latine dictum, altum videtur

Here is the meaning:

"Whatever, having been said in latin, sounds profound"

Then there is the standard phrase all latin students know: "Semper ubi, sub ubi" - "Always where, under wear"

Of all the others I've seen posted so far, I like "Carpe scrotum" the most

Edit: spelling stuff
