<disclaimer> This thread does not belong in the rants section because it is not a rant. I have taken on a stoicistic approach. </disclaimer>

I failed the test, due to the backwards parking. I had to park in between 2 cars, positioned the car not far enough away. So, there wasn't enough space. I tried to correct but there was not enough space (due to some damn cars opposite) so I was trapped. *shrug* I would never have selected that space to park in in normal life!!!

I think now it's time to insert a little word about driver's license tests in Germany. It means that you sit in a car and have to drive around town for around 45 minutes. "Drive around town" means you have to go on the Autobahn, park backwards, do some turns on mean crossings... the put all sorts of traps for you. In case you get one thing wrong, thanks and try again.

Now, the thing that really sucks is that if you fail, you can retry after 2 weeks, but if you fail three times, you have to wait at least 3 months. That is the case with me now...

Don't come now and say I can't drive. I know I can, I drove EXACTLY the route for the test 2 days ago and it went great. Besides, I love driving. I hate the thought of not being able to drive now for 3 months.

Move to the US. As long as you drive slow and stop at all the stop signs, you pass. You don't even have to go on the freeway.

That's a big part of the reason there are so many crappy drivers here, but that's another topic

That really sucks Liney! If I were in your position I think I would have failed too! Luckily I passed my driving test, and got complimented on it by the lady that was doing the test. I didn't have to parallel park THANK GOD! I also think it all depends on who is testing you. The first time I took the test I failed, the second time I took the test I did everything right like the first time and I passed. The big difference was they were two different ladies! Hopefully next time you do it you will pass, just try practicing what they said you did wrong. Good luck!

Come to NJ. You don't even do a road test. We have a closed coarse... How hard is that!? heheh. Its the easiest thing in the world.

I found out today that driving in NJ isnt as bad as it seems.....then again driving in a car with STUDENT DRIVER stickers all over it probablly warned everybody else to steer clear

I'm pretty sure the driving license test in germany is much harder because without compentant drivers there it would be mad chaos... no speed limit.. no?

I didn't even have to take any sort of test.
Texas is idiotic. I'm going back to Europe as soon as I can.

Haha...yeah.

I was thinking, there is some lame-o country song, "God Bless Texas," and the more I think about it, the more it means nothing. God, bless Texas is more accurate (it's asking god to bless this crappy state.)

Back on topic... almost (2 months) 19 and still too lazy to go pass the easy Texas driving exam.

Though few cars that cost the same as your bike did have the same weight/hp ratio.

if you cant parallel park then you cant parallel park..no matter what state/country/galaxy your in..did he just pick a spot on the street for you to park or was it all set up? if he just picked a spot then i can see how its a little unfair to us who parked inbetween two objects that were a set distance apart, but as a driving instructor im sure he has a good idea for the space needed to parallel park

In VA they just raised the lisence age. By 3 months. As if all the 16 y/o's will gain a vast amount of knowledge, of driving and speed control. I swear, some of those people I am convinced, just do that to the people who are 16, 2 months, and 3 weeks.

here in CA you don't get a FULL, REAL d/l until you're 18. From 16-18, you get a restricted license - I'm not 100\% sure of the restrictions, but I think you can't drive other people around unless there's someone 25 or older with you, and you can't drive at night w/o someone 25 or older.

Fortunately, I got my license a few years before they passed THAT law - but because I did, I understand the need of it. I spent my 16th and 17th years hood surfing and bashing mailboxes

New Jersy has a graduated licence program. at 17 you get your "provisinal licence" meaning that you cant drive after 11PM or before 5AM, and you cant have more than 1 person with you from a differnt residence. Confusing? yes. Makes sense? It does if you want to keep new drivers from loading their car and drivng at midnight.

Edit: Then you get your full drivers licence at 18

also part of the new NJ dl law, you have to have your permit 6 months before you can take the road test.

(it used to be: you can get your permit at 16, but you needed to go through behind the wheel driving classes before you could use it, if you got it after you turned 17 you had to wait 6 weeks. now it's 6 months)

I wasnt necessarily talking about my bike, but the same thing applies with my car.

I had an "issue" with a cop the other day while going up braddock road. It was a 35 mph zone and apperently you cant do double that if you only have half your wheels on the ground.

He didnt have a chance..

It was backwards parking, as in backing in to a parking space, not parallel parking. I originally thought the same thing until I asked her.

You from NJ?
Also, that stuff that you both spoke about only went into affect recently. I'm 17 and I have a full license. There is only 1 restriction. If i get 4 points on my license in 2 years, I lost it for 6 months I believe.
