Just one glass of Diet Coke is all it took for a rather nasty feelin' in the stomach.
How can people drink this shit?
it's terrible! what benefit does this have at all?
my mum has the rather annoying habit of stocking up on Diet (whatever) when she does her shopping.

At one point, all I would drink in the cola department was either regular pepsi or diet coke. We just always had it so I would drink it, then I got used to it.

Caffiene free coke, haven't seen that stuff down here for years. I don't think they sell it in OZ any more. Unless Neophyre has a stash up in sydney.

I dont even know if they make Pepsi 1 anymore....it was a fancy marketing scheme for a new pepsi diet soda that only had 1 calroie or somthing like that...tasted even worse than pepsi's regular diet sodas.

Gross. Diet soda is so loaded with chemicals (like aspartame or something) that it's probably worse for you than regular soda.

Crystal Pepsi was the shiznat! I remember it in the little glass bottles, it looked like Sprite. Who needs the artificial coloring anyway?

I think they still make Pepsi 1. Crystal Pepsi was so nasty. Haha.. anyone remember that old SNL skit that was a spin off of Crystal Pepsi called Crystal Gravy? That shit was so funny.

Crystal pepsi tasted pretty much like regular Pepsi,and yes they do make Pepsi One and they sell out of it sometimes in grocery stores around here.

Amen! I think it depends on what you grew up drinking. There were no artificial sweeteners in my house, so pretty much everything I drank for 18 years had real sugar in it if it was sweet (sweet tea, coke, kool-aid, etc.). I can't drink anything with artificial sweeteners in it. I've tried. I drank nothing but crystal light for like 2 weeks, and as soon as I had that first drink with sugar, the cravings were back.

On the other hand, people I know that only had diet drinks in there homes growing up can't really stand the drinks with the sugar in them. Most diet coke drinkers don't like regular even if they're not worried about the calories.

That's my diet / regular theory.

another soda I miss is O.K. cola. That was, IMHO, the best tasting cola I've ever had. Some marketing scemes just fall apart tho, so O.K. cola went the way of sega... :P

screw all of those.. the worst drink ever made is Strawberry Check Cola... and no one can convince me otherwise.. when i was a lot younger, my best friend's mom bought the shit 10 cases at the time.. they had more of that stuff than water.. it was all we had to drink... it was so horrible, but that's all there was , and you couldn't put it down, oh no.. don't try to stop drinking it.. it had liuke drugs or something in it that made you drink it... luckily, i haven't seen any in a while..

diet Riet, diet RC cola, anyone still get Shasta soft drinks? those were bad enough as well..

and i will agree, Pepsi 1 was horrible, and Crystal Pepsi was the bomb.

I don't think that was a cola. It was some sort of hybrid tasting carbonated drink. I actually was playing in the kitchen and created the exact taste of OK about a week before the first time I ever had it. I mixed, like, Dr. Pepper, vanilla, chocolate, red koolaid, perhaps some other stuff... don't remember exactly. Could never reproduce a second glass of it. I miss OK.

Crystal Pepsi did NOT taste like regular Pepsi. It was fucking gross.

The stuff that makes Coke and Pepsi brown is caramel color, which is simply burnt sugar. It adds an element of bitterness to cola that Crystal Pepsi didn't have.

Diet crap sucks... I'm not sure what has the worse aftertaste, aspartame or saccharine.

And let's not even get into that fake fat... I forget the name, but pick up a bag of Ruffles Wow! sometime and check out the list of possible side effects - bloating, vomiting, diarrhea, gas with oily discharge... bleah. If I want less fat I'll just eat fewer potato chips.

Crystal Pepsi was the shit. I can't stand anything diet. Caffine free is ok... The one I really cant drink is anything strawberry! When I was young I couldn't swallow pills so my mom would crush them up and put it in strawberry soda and damn I can't even smell the shit without gagging! I drink Shasta Cola all the time, I get it from the dollar store and I like it just fine!

Sorry, I meant the Caffiene Free diet coke. Which is what we don't seem to have anywhere, fortunately.

I used to drink only diet soda when I was a kid (on account of my ADD I suppose) and I thought it tasted normal. Years later after I got clean from the nasty Ritalin, Dexedrine and Adderall habit I developed (thanks a lot for that Mom and Dad ...you lazy bastards ..you could have just let me go out once and a while) I started living my life to the fullest. This included the consumption of premium grade beverages. Mostly Dr.Pepper and the various knock-offs such as Mr.Pibb. After a while these didn't do anything for me, they just tasted bland. Diet soda on the other hand started tasting like ass! What's up with that? How can you get used to the taste of something to the point where you can't even taste it anymore and everything else tastes bad? Like Indian food, don't the people in Bombay realize that there is a limit to how much curry you can put into something? It's like they can't even taste it anymore. The same goes for Cajun food. It's F-ing hot ...OK ..we get it. How hot does it have to get? You can't tell me that a mouthful of pepper sauce does nothing for you. It's not a flavoring ...it is a crime against the esophagus. Much like diet soda.
