My Celeron 300A is currently running at 450 and working fine. Although, it just isn't fast enough.------------------ Posted by kai on Nov. 14 2000,22:57
yeah i've overclocked lots o' stuff. none of it mine. well, some of it. I've helped friends with stuff like a celeron 366 and a p !!! 600e. something I really wanted. Right now i've got my pentium 75 at 100. not great, but better. I have a new mobo(P3V4X) and plan on getting a 600E with cB0 stepping. and i haven't decided what i'm going to get for ram. probably something rated about 150. ------------------ Posted by aventari on Nov. 14 2000,23:32
hey kai, the cC0 stepping is out nov3,2000I'd definately wait for that to be available if i was you.. here are the specs. -CPU ID change (from 0683 to 0686) overclocking..ahh one of my favorite hobbies my first OC was my 486sx-25 which i ran at 33 mHz. I'd never even heard of overclocking, I was just reading my mobo manual one day and saw the jumper settings for different speeds.. the gears started grinding slowly, hmmmmmmmmmmm.... Now i run a celery300a @ 464 h2o cooled and a Duron 650 @ 900 Gorb cooled. And i overclocked my Volkswagen with a turbocharger. ------------------ Posted by fatbitch on Nov. 14 2000,23:46
haha computer and car mods, does it get any better?theres some great overclocking equipment (and even a celeron water cooler) at < www.techpatrol.com.au > , thats where i got my stuff for tnt and cpu. they are in australia, but it is still a good guide as to what kinda stuff in available. av, i would love to water cool my cpu, but im too scared of spraying my whole comp with water, or condensation. how do you keep the water cold? theres a guy at overclockers.com.au that used a radiator from a car to keep it cool ------------------ Metal/Electronic/Ambient etc.. um i just re-read damien's post, i am a guy, sorry about the 'false advertising'. heh

I need to add a headphone socket to my box.Hmmn. Think is that I want the drivers to automatically switch to headphone mode when i put 'em in.. Hmn. The livedrive has a headphone socketon it doesn't it. if i could get schematics of the connector.. Posted by damien_s_lucifer on Nov. 15 2000,05:39
This is inspired by FatBitch's post on overclocking her TNT2 card...how many of you overclock or mod your hardware? What do you overclock and/or mod? Good results? Bad results? Favorite mods? Etc. Personally, I've overclocked 2 Celerons (333 -> 375 and 400 -> 450), and modified my SB Live! Value to have 4 - 1/4" line inputs (I have 2 synths and didn't want to buy a mixer Posted by aventari on Nov. 15 2000,06:15
With my watercooling system the water stays cold on its own, i have a big enough tank (about 2 gallons) where the water doesn't get much above room temperture. I threw ice in for those marathon UT sessions.I pretty much use my duron system for gaming now, it's sooooo much faster ------------------ Posted by Sithiee on Nov. 15 2000,08:42
i think the best cooling set up ive heard of, is this guy i know who has his mobo and shit out of a case, and has the entire thing submerged in mineral oil, and the mineral oil basically has an air conditioner in it. i dunno what he OCed, but that setup just sounds awesome...

saw a site a while back (can't for the life of me remember where) where some uni students got a freezer, vast quantity of vodka (cos it's endothermic so sucks loadsa heat in ),plus some fat mutha of a fan and overclocked a 286, they got doom and just about quake running on it before they drank all the alcohol and some muppet turned it on with all the jump switches out so it melted but not before they measured it runnning at 100mhz!!------------------ Posted by askheaves on Nov. 15 2000,15:54
I remember that Freezer site. I think it was a 486DX/25. The finale was that they loaded up Halflife on it, and i think they actually got it much higher than 100 (like closer to 300?)My comp is a PIII 800EB, with < www.memory-man.com > 133 rated memory, ASUS 7700 GeForce2, ASUS CUSL2 board. I have the FSB running at 153Mhz, and have very rare lockups. Not bad, considering I'm using the heatsink and fan that came with the PIII, and I forgot to take the tape off of the heatsink thing, thus exposing the thermoconducting goo (shwoops). I do feel really dumb, now that I read about the difference between the PIII 600E and the 800EB... uh, there isn't one. EB means that the FSB is running 133, but there is no way for the chip to block whatever you want to put in it. So, as long as the PIII 600 wasn't part of a bad batch, it would probably be as stable as an 800 (being from the same wafer). So, I could have saved myself around a 100 bucks. I'm too scared to overclock my video card, plus the tools that ASUS supplies to accomplish this don't run well under Win2K. Posted by askheaves on Nov. 16 2000,19:52
OK, so I plan on buying a ThermalTake Golden Orb fan for my CPU (prev. post, FC-PGA PIII). Is there any difference between the 64dia and the 69dia? Will either fit on my chip? I only ask because I don't want to wait for it to be delivered, then be disappointed when it doesn't work.Thank you! Posted by damien_s_lucifer on Nov. 16 2000,22:13
quote: Either one will fit on the chip. The 69dia is preferable for overclocking because it has a larger heatsink area. The model # is FC0370. The 64dia is for motherboards without a lot of space around the CPU. The model # is FC0370-2. < More info on Golden Orbs > Posted by Rhydant on Nov. 16 2000,22:44
back in the day when i had my old 486 (last x-mas. hahahahha) i cracked open the case to take out my ethernet card so i could put in the new computer. then i had a great thought! i looke dup how to overclock a processor, and tried it with the 486. it almost worked. the damned thing blew up! no really, smoke, flames, and weird ass melting. but i dont want to risk that with this one, becuase thes 'the family computer'.
