No this thread doesn't belong in the Sex forum.Ever since hearing about the design of a new < Hummer > back in January of 2000. I've been stashing away some cash here and there. Well the day has finally come. Yesterday I put in my order for a brand spanking new HUMMER H2!!!
YEAH YEAH YEAH!!!
But it's a long way off. The waiting list is long, and to make matters worse (depending on how you look at it), I won't be getting it till August. August 2004!!!
For the first time since GM bought AM General, Hummers (actually just the H2) is being offered to GM employees at their GMS/GMO pricing. Which is a BIG fucking deal.
Instead of paying over $52k for the vehicle, I'll be paying just over $40k.
Of course this means that my order won't be completed for quite some time, but that's ok... It's a done deal!! The Hummer WILL be mine!!!!
Today is the happiest day of my life (don't tell my wife)
...at least till August 10th of next year!

I do not like the new look of the H2, I think it is a stupid attempt to look like all those other stupid easy rolling SUV's that are death traps and a big annoyance on the road. Give me the original Hummer!

you can buy perfectly road legal APC's that have been de commisioned by the army. sure they eat up the diesel but thats somethign that would turn heads and if not you just run em over! Mwuhahahaha.the H2 does look a bit weird though.

I don't know why, the red H2 looks just like a beefed up Jeep Cherokee, which is ugly IMO. I love the hummer, and all it's kick ass features, bu the new design look like they're trying to pawn it off as a family car, what's next, the Warner Bro Edition Hummer (he he HWB?)You can get all sorts of old military vehicles. Even military humvee's.

Give me another $68k and I'd be more than willing to get an H1....But if you look at the capabilities, you really aren't missing much.
The H1 can travel through 30" of water. H2 20"+
The H1 can climb 22" vertical steps. H2 16"+
Bascially the same big shit track that the H1 had to Qual on the H2 was able to pass as well.
Let's look at the facts:

As you can see, the H2 actually has BENEFITS over the H1. And in the areas that the H1 accels, there are only inches in difference.
H1 will always be the off-road king, but I'd just as soon go for his and her HUMMER H2's, than just 1 HUMMER H1.

SORRY...let me rephrase:The FRONT of the RED H2, looks and resembles, to me, the FRONT of a RED NEW GRAND CHEROKEE, without the snorkle and shit. The pic you put of that cherokee is an older, not that old but older model. I was referring to a 2001/2002 model jeep.

Cause I've never seen anything resemble a HUMMER... H2 or not.

Okay, the jeep you show still doesn't have that weird grill gard black bar thing (what ever it's called). I saw one with one...and a friend of mine agree's with me. it's all perception. When looking at the clouds, one man sees a cat, while the other see's a fire truck. Neither see's what the other saw...oh well.Also:

Wasn't the hummer already a Sports utility vehicle (it isn't a truck or a jeep man, it's a hummer.)
And I agree, both are kind of icky looking. The H2 at least has it's hummer-like ability's so it is saved from the depths of hell. But I still like the H1 because of the fact that it is still better looking. And I garuntee the military won't be buying no H2's for their Military Police and stuff.

As for the resemblance, they look somewhat similar at first glance (to a relatively untrained eye like mine). However, the H is a bit boxier and wider ... and looks like a mean dwarf Mack.

As far as I can remember, Jim bob country redneck dude lives in Texas, so getting to places to offroad isn't that hard. And the H2 does not look like something I'd want to take off roading. The H1 is better for it. So what is the point in getting something that is all nice looking with some of the offroading features when it's not really something you'd want to take off road? Oh yeah, cause of that stupid SUV craze by "popular" society with their fucked up childhoodistic ways. Dumbass's!

Actually yes. This will be an off-road vehicle. And JTG, are you really fucking dumb, or just pretending. The H1 has 4-6 inches on the H2 on things it can do better. AND IT COST OVER TWICE AS MUCH!!!
I'm an avid rock climber, and some of the places I go in Austin require me to park in some autocenter and hump 10 miles to the spot. The one time we tried to take a 4 runner down there, we had to have it winched out.
Not only is the H2 gonna help me get places I'd rather not walk anymore, it's a great luxury vehicle for just driving to work and back. It also has plenty of storage room for the many trips I make to Home Depot on a daily basis.
It'll also make towing my boat a breeze!!! No more unhitching as I'm sliding down the boat ramp in my 2 wheel drive Jimmy.
So let me recap. Do I want an H1, fuck yeah I do. Am I willing to pay 117k for a truck. Not a chance in hell.
Is there anything in the 50k range on the market today that can handle the obstacles I need it to handle??? Only 1. A Hummer H2.
So don't like the looks if you want. That's your opinion.
But don't say that the H2 is just about looks and not about off-road, because there you are dead wrong!
It was made with the intensions of being able to do all that the H1 could do, but be more friendly on the highways, parking lots, and have more of the modern day conveniences that the H1 doesn't and never will have!

There is a creek or 2 I'll be driving through, but no 30 inches of water. I definatley have some serious hills to climb, but not a 60% grade.
I need to be able to climb steep hills with independent traction. Be able to run over a fallen tree. Cross a knee deep creeks. And run through some serious rocky terrain. At the same time, I want to enjoy a 9 speaker bose speaker system. Front and Rear dual zone HVAC systems. Tilt steering wheel. Cruise control, power everything... And just the fact that this takes Unleaded over diesel is a big plus for me.
At any rate. This thread is supposed to be about how happy I am for me. Not question about whether or not the H2 is a capable beast, because that has already been proven.

And yes, there's a lot of stuff out there that aren't worth shelling out that much money when you can get an alternative (as good/better/more trimmed to your needs) that's a lot more affordable.
And if the places you go to camp/hike/fish/climb to are that rugged and wild ...

I work for the military, price doesn't mean shit to me. I couldn't afford it one way or the other.if I had the money for either I probably would still get something else. But that is my opinion.
And now I see, you want the H2 because you want the stereo and tilt will and blah blah blah, all the creature comforts, and don't want to have to walk to where your going to go climbing? So your just a lazy wuss. Got it.
For the price of an H2 you can get a decent sized truck like a dodge ram or some shit (even unleaded powered if you wish), get it with all those creature comforts you want, put in a better stereo than one in the hummer, and still have enough to buy yourself another one. Yes you'll lose the ability to drive those 10 miles to the spot your climbinb, but so what. Walking's good for you. It's part of the experience. Jeez, I hate to see what your kids will end up like: "Dad, give us a ride, it's too perfect weather out to walk a half mile to Billy's house."

LOL. Go rock climbing some time there guy.Go find out all the equipment we have to hike 10 miles.
Then imagine after 6 hours of climbing when your legs and arms are jelly, having to pick all up again, and hike it 10 miles back. minus the ice in the cooler or course.

I could spit, and hit places that rugged and wild. Okay, first I'd have to walk like 20ish feet and open the window, then hack a loogie about 10 feet.
Jim can I borrow your hummer? I would kill to take a full sized vehical like that through the gully.
JTG: Whats your problem with the H2? I mean really, for the price its alone in its field. And the Dodge Ram isn't a truck in the sense that it can't go off the highway without falling apart, just wanted to throw that in.
