It's a DetVet thing. You wouldn't understand...Personally I don't think there is much of a difference at all, as far as the forums are concerned.
The only thing cr0 did, that I wish was done around here, is just stir things up every once in a while...
He never really did much, but he did enough to spark interest. Mainly rant.

PG pretty much left no blanks 
basically cr0 used to own a site he called detonate.net. it was all fun and stuff. that's old school DetNet. then after a few mishaps here and there and a few other things, a company hosting DetNet's closed down. at that point cr0 decided that he had enough and he sold the site on ebay. kevin, aka forumwhore, bought the site and kept the forums as is in attempt to preserve detnet. pretty much everything after that sale is new school detnet, or as some called it detonate2. a lot of things has changed from old school and new school, weather or not it changed for better or for worse is a question of personal opinion. whatever i left out is probably not important enough to mention or just slipped my mind.
that is as good of an explanation as i can give you. if others want they will fill in the blanks.

Detnet forums were always defined by the people in them. When the older detvets started going, and the newer crowd joined in, the forums changed accordingly.In short, to all those who believe the forums are "bad" because they changed, listen up. The forums aren't "bad." If the forums were static, the members would get bored, and leave, and it would die. Fourms are (and ought to be) dynamic. Keep it fresh, yo.

All are welcome...Hell, I'm here...still. As long as you don't do anything...like delete posts....you should be fine.detonate.net was a project by the guy that went by the name cr0bar. He posted geeky humor stuff on his site making fun of people and things...he ranted about stuff and put together the basterdizations...really slowly I might add, sometimes it was a week between new page...
the site had some hosting problems and that's about when I went away to join the military.....that's what I remember of "old skool" detnet. This new school crap just looks like a bunch of people in a forum..the new people are interesting, and so are the old people.
Post don't mean shit...I have a low post count...kind of.. but I'm not an idiot...I'm just lame....ah ha ha ha...thud.

What I don't understand is the way "detnet used to be".
What has changed?
Why is it "worse" than it used to be?
I don't want site/domain history exactly. I want to know why the elite here are so offended by nebie status. I want to know what rs was talking about. Like he was talking about ROME or some shit. What detnet "used" to be. The pure ideal.
(Im real close to Darth Liberus. Closer to him than my own brother even. For the past 13 yrs him and I have been out in the real-world (waking-life) starting shit and ending shit. He talks to me a lot about detnet. He talks, a lot. lol. Even HE can be a tad-bit elietist about detnet at times. But it seems to me that the majority of ppl here kick ass. Unfortunately, most ppl are AFRAID to post out of fear of being flamed to death by the likes of members like CATKNIGHT me thinks.
Liberus has told me about the history and the ppl involved. Sounds to me like a few guys with some cool ideas fortunate enough to find the time to put in GREAT effort.)
Now for the rest of us.

I deleted all the cookies in my computer and i forgot my password... then once i got my e-mail with my passoword my computer crashed and i had to re-install windows... 
oh and im glad that detnet is still up... i was really upset when cr0bar put the thing up that detnet was gone...

This is my DetNet Persona, and it always will be. I was never here to make "friends", I'm surrounded by "friends" day in and out.
DetNet for me is about being the asshole and saying exactly what I mean, with no sugar coating. It's the type of shit I'd like to say to dumb fuck eds customers.

What's changed about DetNet for Snark, or for me, or for anyone else is different for everyone.
I miss the Microsoft vs Linux debates with cr0bar. (i won all those by the way)

I miss that the only people that used to be on this site were readers of Slashdot.
I'm even going to miss the 10,000 worthless fucking threads CK used to create on a daily basis.

No, he means the reason rs deleted posts are rs's alone. Only he can really explain his actions, and I don't think even he really understands why or what for.There's a lot of people who were leaving even before Det1 was closed and sold.
Remember, what cr0 sold was the DOMAIN NAME. If someone bought the name and still wanteds to host the forums, fine. He didn't want to do it anymore. Detnet could have become anything. It's only that Kevin wanted to, that the forum remained.
Understand that the name was merely like developed real estate. It had a presence and whoever claimed it could use that to get a little jumpstart to whatever they wanted.
We were lucky to get what we have. some people like rs don't feel that way, that it should just have become something else. Maybe a porn site or something.

I just wanted to clear up some confusion on MY end of this. I was all feeling bad about what rs said, like detnet was something we ruined. It didn't help that some of you are dicks about my questions. In my detnet-thread conclusion I want to say I have learned what I was after.
DETNET was a place where a few cool ppl came to hang out to see the bastardizations. Over time it became a growing-cool forum. The ppl who are out of sorts about the way it "used" to be are being complete and utter dumbass babys. Your upset (rs, catnight) because you got out-flamed. Back in the day, rs, mabey it seemed like more ppl liked you just because there were LESS ppl here. Less ppl to dis-agree with. Less ppl to over-flame you.
This week goes to show that YOUR days are numbered here. Not cuz were gonna boot you, but because your baby ass can't handle the truth. lol.

I was upset as well when I though the forums were dead, but my point is that it seems a bit overboard (I hesitate to say my first instinct "pathetic") to claim that "...we died a little bit inside..." and that it "...still hurts us..." That just seems a bit ridiculous to me.I was around before the site was sold. I don't claim to be one of the original detvets or anything (although I did lurk a bit before I registered), but I know how the site has changed as well. You say that what was important was the community. I agree. And we still have one. Yes, it's changed, but do you honestly think it would not have changed had cr0 continued? Everything changes.
Honestly, I'm not trying to be rude, or disrespectful, but if it hurts you that much to see it, then don't come and see it. There are those of us who enjoy detnet as it is now, sure we'd also like some content, but what's important to us is the forums...the community...and that is still alive.

I can see why folks are sad to see a place change alot, but a credit to Kev, out of some sort of weird integrity, he wanted to keep it around.The real estate analogy put it bets for me. Lemme clear this up from my perspective. If you want to PRONOUNCE it, it's "a-2-n-3-d-7-y" (kinda like our good-ol'-buddy R-2-D-2) But since it's a bit of a run-on.... it's just "andy" for short.
