some of you hate CK with passion, but that's the whole point of forums like these. there's gotta be a person who disagrees with everything (i don't mean CK, just a general statement) and who spends alot of time arguing/debating possibly just for the sake of arguing. without deeply opinionated people DetNet would be nowhere. it's just that with the change of leadership more and more discussions started crossing over to flamewars as opposed to structured debates. this, however, will always happen and is part of the reason i still come back here to read the threads and when i have too much free time post something. now something for kevin, don't worry about people leaving so much. yeah it's gonna be a bit less fun till a new person comes along or till general population of detnet finds another republican to pick on .and this probably should go into another thread, but i don't feel like posting all over the place so i'll this here. great job kevin. after a few things that happened lately you actually learned a very valuable lesson and came to some right conclusions. i still think 7 or so admins is too much, but at least it's no longer 60% or all members. this was the first very important lesson, but i am sure there will be more. we all learn from mistakes and i think that's the best way to learn. it's just not the same if somebody simple warns you, you gotta experience this on your own. now for the second lesson, and i am sorry if i am being anoying by posting same point over and over, but i can't stress this more then it has already been... BACKUP!!!!!!

I've changed a lot too. I left detnet just like a lot of people did, and wound up coming back. CK will be back, he's too much of a reactionary to not let these posts go unanswered.CK seemed to want to win arguements not because of right/wrong, or beliefs, but to make himself feel better. His self esteem was tied in with the "winning." He lost so much (due to his uninformed idiocy) that the forums became a downer rather than a moral boost.
I must say, though, that this thread is "won" by CK. As far as he's concerned, he got the last word. If he comes back, he can read all the wonderful outpurings of affection (*snicker*) that we left him, but until then, or until he comes and reads these posts to see what we said, he has a minor moral victory to offset the staggering losses he had.
It's not really a "win-lose" thing though, that's what CK failed to realize. He got so angry when things wouldn't go his way. When he got in a corner, he would start attacking blindly, and pass off the rest of the forum as immature, or not knowing how to "debate." He probably considerd himself a master debator. I pity that e could never think for himself, and that he needed "wins" on detnet to feel good.

As much as some of you may not like to admit, CK is a major part of detnet. When I think of detnet, he is one of the people I think about (the other's being kuru and cr0). Telling CK to leave or calling him an "idiot" would be like shooting your own collective foots. Only true growth happens from conflict/striff/etc (I'm a member of the Shadow Philosphy if you watch Babylon 5). Having him leave would make this place very boring. I personally don't want to read about a bunch of people with all the same values patting each other on the backs for being "right". I like arguing with CK (even if sometimes I get tired of it).
