Hi,
Its autumn down here in South Africa... getting close to winter, so my company's arranged for flu vaccines for the staff. I've just gotten mine done, but I've never taken a vaccine before. I figured I might as well take advantage of this, cos I get the flu every year without fail.
Has any of you died of a flu vaccine? I didn't trust the doctor when he said I wouldnt get sick... he was smiling all the time, which worried me.
:D

Never heard of anyone ever dying from a flu vaccine.  Some people feel kinda run down for a few days after it.

Yes, you will die.

You can only die if....

A) The viruses in the vaccine are not denatured, damaged, or broken, but whole and fully functional.  This is probably due to manufacturer error.

AND

B) You are immunocompromised.  I.E. you are old, HIV positive, or on immunosuppressant drugs.

Vaccines are RARELY made wrong, and I'm guessing your'e a healthy young person.  You'll be fine.

"has any of you died from a flu vaccine?"

um, I did.

Yes. All vaccines cause death. Your only recourse now is to go get unvaccinated at the nearest hospital.

Seriously, you're not going to die of a flu shot. You might, however, get the flu and spend a few days WISHING you were dead.

That's why I don't get flu shots.

i thought vaccinations were supposed to keep you from dying.

or was it the other way around?

Of course you die. That's why many states offer lethal injection as a form of capital punishment.

I've gotten a flu shot every year for the past 2 or 3 years now, and I've had no problems with it.  Haven't gotten the flu since I started getting vaccinated, even though I spend a good amount of time around sick people.
