webhost just replied to me, says he'll be ready to hand it over in a couple days.

looks like the webhost is gonna share root with me, so I'll be your contact for all of your superuser needs.

For those of you who intend to write code, looks like we'll have the following resources available :

- PHP

- mod_perl

- Apache::ASP (rides atop mod_perl, runs ASP programs written in PerlScript - NO VBSCRIPT.  See < www.apache-asp.org > for details.)

- MySQL.  Each app. needing it will get its own database & user/pass for security.  I'll probably create code to validate user logins against Ikonboard's db.

just spoke with the webhost.  I have SSH access now and am working with him on tuning the server.  We'll try to let everyone know a few hours before any disruption in service.

I got it on the first try.  It was eerie.

Anztac and I discussed content management system tonite.  I am currently trying to figure out how Ikonboard encrypts its passwords so we can use IB logins to auth people into the system.  Basic idea is this - a page where ppl can submit content.  It goes into a db.  Editor can review at his leisure and choose to publish it, request revision, throw it in the rainy day pile, or send his regrets.  Once published, it gets rendered to HTML for quick serving.  Every article has a unique numeric ID for e-z link management.

webhost was upgrading to perl 5.6.1 for me.  Forums went down for awhile while he got the proper modules to appease Ikonboard.  Hopefully it won't happen again.
