Eeeeeeeeeeeeek!Okay maybe I'm just having a bad day... and in turn I may end up articulating what I want to incorrectly: When everything becomes really predictable and every post you read is pretty much what you expected to see posted... browsing a forum becomes a living hell. When you get really annoyed by people who get their kicks by trying to get the attention of others by being obnoxious and making stupid posts *ahem*biped*ahem*... browsing a forum becomes a living hell. I'm not above it all... but I feel like I can't find a good forum where everyone has good discussions instead of biased, heated arguements. I don't know why I'm going to click the post button, maybe it just really is a bad day. I observed one of my better friends and I've realized that he doesn't participate or try to express his opinion in front of people who obviously will not try to understand him. I should develop a habit like that... I want to leave. I think I'll leave. I know you guys won't care, I figure editor will feel obligated to say sayonara.. and then some of you will just post whatever is on your mind.. and only sometimes that's a good thing.. I don't know.. I'm just rambling.. I think I'm leaving. I'm not sure. A lot of you guys are really kickass people... Posted by Rhydant on Mar. 28 2002,07:17
we used to have this thing called the 'Senior Lounge'.but alas, thats only in folk tales now. Posted by BlackFlag on Mar. 28 2002,08:15
why the fuck would you need a senior lounge? if everyone here is fucknuggets except a precious few you want to talk privately with, MAKE YOUR OWN GODDAMN FORUM, AND DON'T TELL ANYONE ELSE WHERE IT IS!!!!!!!goddamn eliteist bastards....... Posted by Anztac on Mar. 28 2002,10:23
Good idea...... Any seniors want to come over to my place? I got pretty IB boards, T3, server that's been up (::checks::) 118 days If any of you think this is a good idea I got contacts down at the bottom of this post here. Personally I've never posted that much... just... pop in and drop an opinion, joke, or something that might add to the conversation here and there. Sold: I'd miss reading you man BTW, anyone else noticed how strange a day it was? Maybe it was the full moon, but I've been weird and disoriented all day. Posted by Carnivore on Mar. 28 2002,13:26
I think someone tried that already, there are maybe 2 posts in the entire forums each week....

Just resurrect the Senior Lounge. Is there something preventing us from doing that?
Posted by liquid metal on Mar. 28 2002,15:39
the senior lounge was formed because the older detvets didn't want to deal with the new generation of people coming in anymore. so they pretty much forced cr0 to make them their own forum and give only a select few the password to it. for some reason or other ed seems to be against this idea.

The Senior Lounge was formed so that the older detvets could have serious conversations unto themselves without troll idiots showing up to 'hit and run' with some innane comment.Certain members were allowed access to it, which was verified by their login ID and password. It's not like the Lounge had one password and only 'some of us' knew it. We were there because we were invited, and it was nice to have good conversations for once without a bunch of idiots showing up to post nothing but drivel. Posted by editor on Mar. 28 2002,18:20
If you've been here for a while, you can email me for the Senior Lounge pw.kbreak@kevinbreak.com Posted by kuru on Mar. 28 2002,18:50
It wasn't done just by 'if you've been here a while'.IIRC, 12 of us were selected right off the bat. Everyone else who got in was nominated by one of the original 12, and admitted if there were no objections. Posted by Wiley on Mar. 28 2002,20:35
I'm all for a private forum, but I don't think it has to be here ...if you want a private forum then go set one up somewhere and don't tell people about it. Should we have 10 different forums for 10 different clicks here? Where people can meet in secret and talk about things they all agree on anyway? Sounds like a big pat-yourself-on-the-back-fest to me. Why don't we just hold a big popularity contest? And you got to be one of the original 12 by just being here the longest? That's kinda goofy ...I think there shoulda been some kind essay or entrace exam or something ...maybe base it on IQ points.edit: fuck, I just realized that I agreed with BlackFlag ....there goes my hopes of ever being in the Senior Lounge. maybe browsing this board would be somewhat more interesting if there was an ignore function included somewhere.

No, actually when I was invited it was explained to me that regular posters who showed that they were interested in intelligent discourse were being invited to a private forum on the detnet site where that discussion could occur. It wasn't just 'who was here the longest,' because there were some people who had been here a long time that showed they were too immature and trolled too much to be participating in the SL discussions. The effort was to keep the lameness level of the posts down so the discussions could gather up steam and be really intelligent without some dipshit showing up to say something deliberately stupid or cause some idiotic fight and drag attention away from the actual issue. SL's motto should've been 'leave all childishness at the door.' Posted by Spydir on Mar. 28 2002,23:22
I was never invited
Posted by editor on Mar. 29 2002,00:50
Spydir, you can have the pw for twenty bux.but seriously, the Lounge was never closed, the pw was never changed as far as I know, and I've given it to almost everyone who's asked for it. It would be preferable to keep the posts there "serious" and leave most of the flaming and snickery stuff out *here*. What do you think? Posted by Dysorderia on Mar. 29 2002,01:24
gee i wonder why... Posted by ic0n0 on Mar. 29 2002,01:33

Kevin, look, you don't get it.There wasn't one password that everybody just 'used' to get in there. When you clicked on the link, it brought up a login screen. Enter your username and YOUR password. If your username was on the list, you got in. That prevented people from just giving out the fucking password to whatever douchebag they decided to invite in to cause trouble. Holy Chrsit, twice in one week I've agreed completely with Kuru.. I'm damn well amazed.

I agree to, its not the fact people dont like hearing the mindless dribble that the lacking maturity crowd brings... but its that they just want a place to get away from it sometimes... and the SL was it, even though I was never there but, I agree it has been an odd day, I put a puter together today and forgot to plug power in to all the devices and everything... geez.. on a side note .. someone email me with some good ideas for a domain, I want another.-dave Posted by editor on Mar. 29 2002,02:59
Well, one person wrote to me and asked for the pw; I gave it to him and he posted. Today. That must be why I'm confused....sorry.
