Well what kinda tunes do you freaks like?  Personally I like everything from the old early 90's rock (Nirvana, mudhoney, tad etc) to punk/ska to some classical stuff.

I like wierd stuff. Blues Traveler, Counting Crows, Cake, and Rage Against the Machine are loaded into my car. Nothing throws my friends off more than to hear "Anna Begins" right after "Guerilla Radio."

Posted by editor on Mar. 25 2002,14:16
Kuru has a point.  Let's put this in the Classroom.
Posted by CatKnight on Mar. 25 2002,14:22
James Horner, Michael Kamen, Hans Zimmer

oh yeah, couldn't forget < Days of the New >.

My Favorite Bands/Composers/Artists include:
    Copland
    Glass
    Williams
    Shostakovich
Wagner (if this was my last name I'd make you all say it w/ the proper accent!;)
    Dave Matthews Band
    Tool
    Led Zeppelin
    Joe Satriani
    SRV
    Pink Floyd
    Jimmy Eat World
    More...

I just can't stand 90% of all pop music now.  There's just so much mainstream crap.  You know good music when it feels like they're singing about your life or to you (imho) and so much new stuff is just...ugh..

Days of the New rox0rs j0ur box0rs!

I like almost everything but:

Rap.
R&B.
Motown.
Disco.
Country.
Most everything made after 1990.
Korn, Limp Bizkit and all of their clones. (I'm being redundant, but these guys deserve it)
Celine Dion, Britney Spears and all other Pop Princesses
Top 40.

Oh, and a special mention of Jackson Browne. I love Jackson Browne. Sheer musical genius.

Grunge died with Kurt, and 'modern rock' has suffered ever since.

Why the fuck did Sound Garden have to break up, and why does Stone Temple Pilots suck so much ass now that they're back together?

'Alternative' used to be cool back when it was a term used to describe bands like Weezer, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, and Nirvana........  now its just more corporate whore music.

BTW, OJ was right.... he wouldn't have been on trial for killing his spouse if he had been white.  Example: Courtney Love.
Posted by Spydir on Mar. 26 2002,17:34
I'm sick of people telling me "rock's gone down hill since <so and so> died."  Bullshit, you just got old.

Every generation hates the music that comes after it.  It's natural.  I understand.  I'm already not looking a lot of the music coming out.  My parents hate my music, their parents hate their's, and their parents hate their's.  There's no way around it.  I'm gonna hate my kid's music.

It just gets really annoying when I'm at a show for my friend's band and they call me up to do a cover song of some staind, disturbed, godsmack, or whatever and then when I'm finished yelling at the top of my lungs for 4-5 minutes, some dick at the bar's like "kids like you are killing rock!  Do it like john lennon!" or some shit.

As they said in airheads, "If it's to loud you're to old".

BF, I totally see your point.

Smilie face guy, he said it has suffered, which it has.  If it wasn't suffering then bands like bsb, n*sync, brittney etc...wouldn't be as big as they are today.  How many boy/girl bands can you name from the grunge era?
Posted by editor on Mar. 26 2002,18:37
Mr Ped, Kuru is not like Lykosis much, but they're both rumored to be sexy females....

I think, Spydir, what some of us oldies may be referring to is the distressing tendency for bands to cover existing work;  I've heard far too many covers to which I remember the original fondly...Pop really does eat itself!
Posted by kuru on Mar. 26 2002,18:45
Who is Lykosis and why do I already not like the comparison?
Posted by DELUDED_BIPED on Mar. 26 2002,18:46
I love Lykosis and we started out the same way you and I are.

Little.
Boy.

Seiously, shithead, are there any females on the internet that you don't love?
Posted by DELUDED_BIPED on Mar. 26 2002,18:51
I use love loosely.

I have a fondness for her strong will and views of society, is that better?
Posted by Spydir on Mar. 26 2002,19:18
dude with the caps lock name, I have a name that's clearly readable anywhere you look in the post.  You're talking like pop started when kurt died.  Pop didn't grow because he blew his brains out, pop grew because people let it.

I agree in the sense that a lot of the new stuff has become really unoriginal, and that's why I don't like most of it anymore.  It's just don't tell me that it sucks because some guy died a decade or more ago...
Posted by DELUDED_BIPED on Mar. 26 2002,19:22
Agreed...it has nothing to do with Kurt dying.

It does have alot to do with the "alternative' scene dying.

Are you trying to get approval from me, or do you actually just like being abused?
Posted by Wolfguard on Mar. 27 2002,01:29
Music is simple.

If its on and im driving 80+ i like it.

If its on and im reaching to switch to the am news channel i dont.

personaly, im stuck in the 80s.  Give me loud metal and big hair!  devil.gif

it's sad, the majority of the cds I buy were produced further and further away from today.

As far as music, lately lots of Crystal Method, Gravity Kills, Stabbing Westward, and the Reservoir Dogs Soundtrack.

I could care less if you approve of me lady and I don't like being abuse.  I can handle words harsh words easily enough and I don't get abused in RL anymore, not since my growth spurt.
Posted by kuru on Mar. 27 2002,19:25
He called me 'lady'.

Wait'll he's been around a while and he figures out I am a chick, I am sexy, I am a geek, but I ain't a lady.

You're just arguing an opinion, which doesn't work.
You're comparing rock bands to pop music which existed while Nirvana/Alice/STP also existed (ie. Michael Jackson).

(and before anyone says anything, I am aware of how shitty that grammar is..)

I loved it when Vega danced to the uga chaka song and then sliced that cops ear off...Amazing

If you liked that you'd probably like:

Two days in the valley
Suicide kings
Snatch
Road Kill
Made
Heist
4 dogs playing poker
You get my drift...I love those kinds of movies
